Baby carrier got moldy in basement.
I have a Beco baby carrier that I love and was well over $100. I kept it in my finished basement and recently discovered that it (along with some other items ) got moldy. My gut tells me to just throw it out but I'm hoping I don't have to. Do you think washing it would suffice?
It's black with a pattern on it, so I think bleach would probably ruin it. I was hoping hot water in the washer and high heat in the dryer might work. At the same time, I don't know how to get rid of mold without bleach of of course I don't want to use something that's not totally clean on a baby.

I believe that vinegar cleans mold. Vinegar and hot water in the washer, let it soak for a few hours, then rewash with regular detergent. Worth a try before you toss it

I'd toss it. Did that to strollers that were in my garage. Agree... With a baby: it just isn't worth it!

Toss it. 100 is not worth making your infant sick or you for that matter.

Ok, you're basically confirming what I figured. I've never tried to clean mold off anything before and wasn't even sure if it was really possible. I'm so annoyed that all of my stuff is basically ruined. I figured since my basement is finished and dry that it would be fine but apparently not. Ugh.

I would wash it in the machine first on HOT with white vinegar and see how it turns out .........like another poster said, let it soak.
If it doesn't work, you can always toss it after the fact.

$100 is not worth gambling with your baby's health. Toss it.
