Go to gym. I never feel better than when I leave there a sweaty mess. Cut out toxic people from my life. It has never been better. Understand it's ok to say no to things, don't have to go every function or night out. Don't have to explain myself to anyone. Make time for myself. Working full time, I never get time "to myself", so I make it a point to take off once a month and do whatever it I want to do: lay in bed, watch tv, go shopping, gym, etc. DD is at school, DH is at work. Even if I just get to clean the house in peace, and make a nice dinner, it's a day to myself.

DH and I once a month take a half day on the weekends and do things separately. He goes out with his friends I go get a massage whatever it may be. I love the ME time. And my biggest thing- budget I. In my early 20s I had about 10k in credit card debt and bought whatever I wanted. I was miserable. I committed to paying it off and paid it off on my own in about 7 months. Now I am careful with our money. A big thing for me was I couldn't get married with that kinda debt and then make it DHs problem. It made my life better I don't stress and I committed to paying things cash or with the AMEX. I was able to buy a house and 2 new cars. Now DH and I enjoy doing many things and continue to enjoy life while living below our means. This is the one single thing that has really changed my life.

What have you bought or what habits have you started that really changed your life
We just started to go to the gym and I feel so much better and find myself looking forward to going as well as eating better. Tonight we didn't feel like cooking but just grilled up some meat and cut up fresh veggies instead of ordering a pizza. We are also making a major effort to eat at home every night and I have been working really hard at bringing a lunch to work instead of grabbing something out. Its amazing how much money you actually save.

Re: What have you bought or what habits have you started that really changed your life
Making lunch for DH and I every day. I used to make it 3-4 times a week and we'd pick up lunch the other days. In 2015, it was my resolution to go a full month making our lunch...that turned into two months, and that turned into a full year.
So, Sunday afternoons or evenings, I'm meal prepping. Some weeks I get really into it and do something complex; other weeks, I'm not as inspired but I still make something good and healthy. And I prep things for the week - press tofu, chop vegetables that can last chopped in the fridge, make sauces....this way dinners are quick and easy.
Drink lots of water. I've always been a water drinker but I really got into the habit of tracking it when I was on chemo. I use an app to track it and it reminds me to drink. I usually consume 96-100 ounces of water every day and if I don't get anywhere near it, I get headaches.
Working out. I'm on and off the wagon lately because I've been really busy working on some projects but I always feel so much better when I make the time to do so.
Walking on my lunch break. My break is an hour long...on the nicer days, I walk around Midtown for a little bit before I eat.
I had insurance on my cat through VPI and when he was diagnosed with cancer, I never had to worry about finances when it came to our options. It left every possible medical option available to us so that wasn't a factor in our decision. He lived for twice as long as it was projected and had a very high quality of life for all of those months.
Saying no to doing things I don't want to do. I don't know why it's so taboo in our society to put ourselves first.
Playing the drums. It's definitely not for everyone, but everyone could benefit from exploring some sort of creative outlet.
Not saving things for a special occasion much anymore. I use things, wear things, eat or drink that special bottle of wine or fancy chocolates. Being diagnosed with cancer at 32 made me realize that LIFE is a special occasion. So drink the expensive wine. Wear the fancy outfit. The rug can be pulled out from under you at any moment.
Cards Against Humanity - reinforces that my friends are a bunch of sick fcks like me.
