Would not do it.
I have looked into Friday parties and general consensus is that it is a bad time for working parents.
Plus it should be in the middle of spring break. lots of people would be away.
Spring Break here is the last week of April. In our local schools, most only get Good Friday and Monday off.

I thought all schools had break the week before or after Easter. Guess it is just down here in the DC area.
I was looking into having DS's party on Friday, the day kids get dismissed for spring break. Think it is a bad time. Fri, in general, seems like an undesired party time for guests with working parents.

I think most of the country has Spring Break over Easter. Passover falls at the end of April, hence the end of April break.

Re: Is it a bad idea to have a birthdya party on Good Friday?
Depends on who you are inviting.
My DHs family celebrates Jewish holidays and they've had Passover celebrations on Good Friday. I've always declined.
I used to be in church every Good Friday. Our services started at 7PM, so the timing may nto work for some people.
Now that I don't attend church as often, I still would not go to a party on Good Friday. It is a solemn day and I respect it (As a Catholic) whether I go to church or not.
IF you are inviting non-Catholics you should be fine.

In our district we're off from Thursday through Monday for Easter and then we have the entire last week in April off for Spring Recess.

Yes it's a bad idea IMHO. I would not send my dc. It is a day of reflection and Holy. The same as I wouldn't go on Saturday either. Pretty much that whole weekend is out for my family and I.

That sounds lovely. Also wish we had the full week off in February. We only get the week before Easter for spring break. We do get random long weekends sprinkled throughout the year. Like we have a long weekend this weekend.
I remember all the parents always took vacations in February when I was working in NYC.

Ive asked similar questions in the past about timing of parties etc and people usually say two things--1. if your guests want to be there they will and 2. you know your guests best.
In this case, I observe Good Friday and would not attend a festive celebration held on that day. So, whereas I am not a morning person I would still attend an 8am birthday party if it was for someone I cared about and I wanted to be there, regardless of who the invitation was from I would not attend on Good Friday. If the majority of the people you are inviting do not observe Good Friday then go for it!! If not, I personally would try to find another day.

I went to a wedding on Good Friday once. It was so odd considering the couple was Catholic.
With that said, if a hundred people went to the wedding, people will come to the party.
