My son can't/won't stop eating
Ds is 22months. For the past 2 weeks I cannot keep up with his appetite. He wakes up begging for food and it continues ALL DAY LONG. I feed him 3 meals and snacks often. He drinks water all day long. He also seems a bit more tired. He will nap for 2-3 hours a day and sleep from about 830pm-730am. Yesterday dh was home with him and he ate 7 yes 7 frigin waffles. Who does that? Lol. Is this something I should discuss with his dr?

My son can't/won't stop eating
Sounds like a typical growth spurt. My DS is 27 months and has gone through the same exact thing.

Growth spurt.
I wish my kids would eat that much! I'd be happy if my son would eat 1 waffle!

My son can't/won't stop eating
I'd say growth spurt. Sometimes my DS (about the same age) can eat an entire box of mac and cheese all by himself PLUS veggies. Last night, he had an entire apple, yogurt, cheese, chicken, peas and corn and potatoes.

Yup growth spurt. My DS is skinny as anything but when he is having a growth spurt he would eat all day long.

My son can't/won't stop eating
I would say growth spurt.
I am also super jealous of his appetite. I wish my DS would eat like that - he is 5 and getting him to finish 1 waffle is like pulling teeth. I always say I would rather have a child he won't stop eating than a child who dissects, smells, pulls apart, complains about everything he has to eat...it is so frustrating.

My DD is 5 and is the same way! She eats only about 6 different foods, maybe 7. She barely eats more than a few bites though, even of those foods. She will be all about something one day, then the next day announce she doesn't eat that anymore. (She did this recently with cheeseburgers. She will no longer eat burgers, even though she use to love them) She really does eat like a pigeon. I often wonder how she survives.

Re: My son can't/won't stop eating
Normal growth spurt. I mean 7 waffles is a bit extreme if they are adult sized waffles. But those tiny toddler waffles, I can see that easily. There are still some days where my DD can eat like 10 meals seriously in 1 day. Some other days she will barely touch her food. It is normal. As long as you give your son varied, healthy food-- feed him as much as he will eat. I don't think it will last very long.

Is he obese? If so, see dr. If not, temporary growth spurt.

My son can't/won't stop eating
When dd eats like that I know she will wake up a couple of inches taller in a couple of days. Mon she had 2 slices of pizza, not halves, 5 oranges, apple sauce, then had a full dinner. As long as there are no food concerns feed till full.

Re: My son can't/won't stop eating
My ds was EXACTLY like that at that age. Begging for food all day long. I know some of it was boredom & some of it was finding food comforting. Not hunger. Because if he was distracted by something, he'd forget about food for a good while, until the distraction ended.
My solution & the only thing that worked was to put him on an eating schedule. He'd eat at certain times a day & he began to understand that those were the times he'd eat & not in between. I'm talking 5 or 6 "meals" a day... and I'd give him a really large quantity of healthy food during each of those meals (several courses, lots of variety) to hold him over until the next meal. Once he understood this, he pretty much stopped asking for food in between & found other things to occupy himself.
I also give him vitamins now & I think it's helped with his tiredness, thought maybe there's no connection, I can't be sure. I'd let him sleep as long as he'd want, but he'd still get up the same time in the morning & wake up himself from his nap so I don't know how to help him get more sleep.
