lactation consiltant recs

My DD will be a month old this week and bfing is still hurting like crazy. I BF my first DD for 13 months and I remember it hurting at first, but not this much\this long. She is gaining weight well, so I know she's getting adequate milk, but I just feel like its been harder this time around. I'm thinking I should see a lactation consultant. Any recommendations for one near Ronkonkoma?

I don't have any recommendations (since I don't live on LI), but I wanted to say its probably your DD's latch. My DS' latch was awful and it literally hurt for 8 weeks. I thought about tossing in the towel many times. I had his latch checked multiple times and it always looked fine (according to like 5 different people: drs, nurses, lactation consultants). At 8 weeks exactly, it suddenly got better overnight - literally.

This is the lactation consultant that used to run the breastfeeding group I used to go to a St. Catherines. She has now started her own business. I loved her. I don't know if it is too far for you but check out her website

Peconic pediatrics in Riverhead, right near the outlets. The ped is an lc and they have a few more on staff. Also, there's a great fb group called lll of Southeast Suffolk. They can give you more recs if you need.
