Where to go for first haircut?

We will be bringing dd for her first haircut this weekend. She will be 3 in a few weeks. She has really lush, long hair with great body and banana curls so I'd like someone to work with her hair, not just chop it off.

Should I take her to a regular salon, a kids place, or a discount haircut place (ie super cuts, lemon tree, etc.)?

Does anyone have any recommendations between Merrick and massapequa?

If you like the person who cuts your hair, then I'd just go there. Take her to someone you already trust. And bring lollipops!

i have not cut my dd hair yet either and wont till shes prob 3. She has curly hair as well and i will take her to my hairdresser which i trust.

I just got DD's first haircut yesterday! If you're willing to go a little further, I took her to The Little Clippers on Long Beach Rd in Oceanside. Check out their website. One of the moms in my Mommy and Me class recommended it. Her inlaws own it.

It was super cute. She sat in a little Jeep, they have regular chairs too with boosters. I got the first haircut package for $25, which includes the haircut, a certificate, lock of hair, picture, and balloon. The place was immaculate. Just tell them what you want done. I should have been a little bit more clear. She took more off of DD's ends than I would've liked and not enough of her bangs but that's totally on me. We had a great experience and surprisingly, DD did amazing.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to call my hairdresser tomorrow, and will also check out the place in oceanside, as that's on our way home from work/daycare!
