Ok if both parents go to birthday party?

Maybe I'm overthinking this, but my son's been invited to a few birthday parties for kids in his nursery school class, and we don't know the kids or their parents. My son really wants to go to both parties, which we're fine with, but is it weird for both me and my husband to go, too? We both love to see him at parties having fun, obviously, and we'd like to have each other to talk to since we won't know anyone.

I feel weird though because I feel like I'm forcing the kids' parents to pay for two adults' worth of food, and they don't even know us. I don't want to be overbearing. Am I just being neurotic?

I think you are overthinking it. I've been to parties for dd's friends where either one or two parents come. My DH and I have both gone to several of her classmates' parties. Just don't pig out on the food!

I think its fine if you both go. Most of the time the place charges per child, and they may have a pizza or heros for the adults so you're not really adding that much extra by both of you going.

My husband goes with my to every party. I need a buffer. I am not good with making small talk with other moms.
It has never been an issue at all.

They usually offer pizza to the adults and he never eats it anyway but there is always plenty if he had wanted to eat.

Ok if both parents go to birthday party?

When we only had one dd we would both go. Now dh stays home with the baby and I go to the parties with dd.

They pay per kid, not adult.

I would check with the parent of the bday kid. We had DD 's party at the aquarium and I made it as clear as possible that the invite was for the child and 1 parent, mostly due to space constraints. Well, some people showed up with 2 parents and not only did we have to pay for them but the room really got too crowded at lunch time.

Not always. We had to pay per person.

I often see both parents, I think it's fine. What drives me a little nuts is when both parents come AND bring an uninvited sibling. Clearly one of them could have stayed home with the other child.

Ok, thanks everyone! We will both go... and then my husband will probably have to end up working anyway, just b/c I was overthinking this, haha.

I think its totally fine. And whether or not he goes, make an effort to talk to the moms at the parties. Ive made a few friends in doing that. And my dd gets playdates with the kids she really likes.

Other than extenuating circumstances (such as limited space as noted above), it's totally fine!

Re: Ok if both parents go to birthday party?

Go but don't eat is one way to approach it. Unless they clearly have tons of food. We have done this and never want to seem like we are overstepping a line.
