40th birthday party help
I am thinking of throwing DH a 40th b-day party. It's not until May, but I wanted to get some ideas now so I can start planning.
If you have recently thrown a party for an adult what are some tips you have?
Do people get a DJ for a 40th party?

What location are you looking for?
I did a 30th birthday at Napper Tandy's in Smithtown and it was GREAT.
We had the entire left side of the restaurant with a private bar and dance floor to ourselves --- it was newly renovated, it has uplighting, and the food was great. The price, which included a buffet dinner and an open bar with top-shelf was under $40 a person at the time. This was about three years back. I can't imagine it has gone up a lot.
Ask for Brendan if you call. They were GREAT. Really great.
I did balloons for decor, with a banner, then I did the birthday guest of honor's favorite drinks as "signature drinks" and put a sign on the bar. The waitstaff was excellent.
I received a few DJ recs from girls on here --- everyone seemed great. I ended up using one of them and God forgive me, I forget who but he was good. Reasonably priced.
It was awesome.

When dh turned 40 I threw him a party in the backyard. I had rented a tent with table and chairs.
We didn't have a dj. But we did have a bartender and a waitress who was a godsend. She did everything for me. Put the food out, packaged it up. I did cook all the food beforehand.
As for favors we did shot glasses saying David's 40th birthday filled with m&m's with his face and chocolate covered oreos.
We just went to a 30th at the irish coffee pub and it was 80s-90s themed. DJ only played 80s and 90s hits.
They did a candy bar with all 80s candy. It was so much fun.

40th birthday party help
Had my sisters 40th at Minnesota's in Long Beach. It was a brunch buffet. Was awesome.
Did not have a DJ. Everyone just mingled and ate lol
