For those who breastfed
I want to stop my milk from coming in, I've stopped nursing her and I've cut my pumping sessions down to only twice a day for 5 minutes but I'm still getting milk. Any tips on how to make it stop faster. I'm going to try the cabbage leaves today and peppermint tea/oil. I tried not to pump yesterday but it was so painful. Thanks!

Re: For those who breastfed
Once I was down to pumping twice a day, I just stopped. Wore sports bras and massaged in a hot shower when I couldn't stand the pain. It was painful for a few days but then it was done.

I never breastfed so to stop it from coming in, I wore TIGHT sports bras, avoided hot showers, ice packs in the bra, and the frozen cabbage leaves. Change them out often
Motrin for the pain.
Mine was gone in just a few days

Same here. I just took a pain reliever at night because I couldn't sleep from my boobs throbbing.

Re: For those who breastfed
I did a real gradual wean. If you're pumping 5 minutes 2x a day, cut down either the duration of your sessions or go to 1x per day. After the 1x per day I stopped. Never had any discomfort.

Cold turkey
This is what I did. I stopped pumping first, then stopped nursing. I did it slowly over the course of a few months: stopped pumping ag 8 months, then dropped the nighttime nurse at 9 months and then dropped the morning nurse at just after 10 months, a little later. It's been a few weeks and while I haven't leaked at all, I checked to see if anything would still come out and it did... From what I read, once you bf you might always be able to produce something.

Cold turkey. Although I've read that taking Sudafed helps. It dries you up if you have a stuffy nose, so the theory is it dries up all the fluids in your body, including milk. Good luck!

Re: For those who breastfed
It's funny you posted this because I'm weaning now. I'm down to two pumps a day (I was an exclusive pumper due to latch issues). My plan is to drop the night pump and then just pump once a day for a few days, then stop. I did it very gradually and each couple of days I would drop a pumping session. It seems to be working because my supply dropped drastically and I'm not really in pain. I did this with dc #1 and it worked just fine. And after I stopped I had a little discomfort for a few days but very little pain. Just reduce your sessions and time gradually and you'll be fine!
Good luck!!

Same but I made a mistake of getting them wet in the shower so I ended up with mastitis and needed to be put on antibiotics.. so just make sure you don't get them wet at all costs lol

Same here. If you have any diapers on the smaller side cut it in half and soak it in water. Freeze the pieces and once frozen stick them in a tight sports bra. Prevents leaking.

Re: For those who breastfed
Thank you for all the tips!! So the last time I pumped was last Sunday and my breasts are still so full and hard as rocks. I'm in so much pain. I did the cabbage leaves, sports bra, drank teas to dry me up and I'm still leaking. Is this normal? No fever and they aren't red or warm so no infection.
