Should I be concerned?

My DD will be 4 at the end of October and is starting Pre-k.
Should she be able to write her name/letters at this point?

Should I be concerned?

Ok, that's what I thought and then I saw that some of the kids in her class were already writing their names and I got nervous!

Re: Should I be concerned?

Some kids don't know how to write their names going into K while some are writing them at 3. But 3 & 4 years olds are not expected to know how to write their names. They should be able to make straight lines, make a closed circle.

I saw that too in our pre k and i felt like we spent way too much time having fun this summer when I could have spent some time on showing him how to write his name!
