Staying home-dd has Coxsackie virus and has blisters all over her feet. I just finished canceling all of our weekend plans. So bummed.

Re: What is everyone doing this weekend?

Having my son's 2nd birthday party!

When planning, I spoke to my family and close friends who I really wanted to be present at his party about the idea of having it the Sunday before Labor Day since we have so many police in the family (my sister's FH, my boyfriend, my brother, etc) -- So, days off can be tricky. We kind of had a meeting to discuss what would work best and chose this coming Sunday! Realizing that some extended people may not be able to make it because of the holiday, I just made sure the ones that reeeeally mattered could attend and anyone else who can't, I totally understand.

Well, we ended up having a great response all across the board!! So excited.

I'll take lots of pics -- I'm a born party planner - I have personalized water bottles, cookies, candy favors, pony banks, and tons of yummy food -- it is a barnyard/farm animal theme! The kids will ride a pony, pet and feed baby animals, and then take a train ride Chat Icon Super excited.

That sounds incredible! I look forward to seeing pics (hoping that you post some).
Where is it taking place? A farm? Or did you rent everything?

Last year I rented everything --- lollipop pony and farm animal rentals, tents, food, etc. all at my parents house. I had flowers and balloons as decor, a custom cake - all pics in my album and it was wonderful but INSANE. I really worked my behind off planning!

So, this time, I was like you know what? I work full time, I'm a single mom, I'm going to have it at a place Chat Icon I looked at Benner's Farm in Setauket and they seemed so great BUT they are not handicapped accessible and we need that for guests. So, I went with White Post Farms in Melville. My son has been there a handful of times and loved it. A few years back I went to a friend's son's birthday party there and really loved how they did it. I toured the place, chose a room I liked the best (Farmview) and I'm having pizza for the kids (they give you choices) and having sandwiches, cheese platter, and mac/potato salad for the adults. Then, unlimited soda, iced tea, water, and coffee. I'm doing the cake they provide so I went with a barnyard/farm theme -- my son loves farm animals right now. Loves naming them and then saying the sound they make (cow!! moooo!).

I am having Party Hardy provide some small balloon table centerpieces. WPF provides some balloons but I want each table to have a centerpiece so Party Hardy, who did his party last year, has pig and pony and cow CP's that are adorable, little, but add something!

I'm doing custom cookies from Laura the Cookie Lady -- she is doing a farm animal cookie and the label will say "moo, oink, neigh... Thank you for coming to Julian's 2nd Birthday!"

I had a vendor on Etsy make a banner "Happy 2nd Birthday Julian" with farm animals on it -- and she also did a sign to hang on the door of the party room. I had a vendor on Etsy do custom water bottle labels in cow motif. I just bought Dasani bottles, took the label off and stuck Julian's label on -- did that last night. I have a custom farm themed "2" party hat for him. The place provides all the other kids with party hats and favors. I still did the cookie favors as a little extra something but each child will get a personalized pony piggy bank with their name. The place does that, which is great.

So, I'm still adding my touches because I can't help myself but JESUS it is A LOT less work --- I mean, tons and tons less!!!! This place is soup to nuts -- anything I do, is because I want to.

SO excited -- yeah i'll take pics!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: What is everyone doing this weekend?

Friday - having family friends over for lunch to meet DS. Maybe All American for dinner.

Saturday - we are doing a free trial soccer clinic at Eisenhower Park for DD. If she likes it, we are going to sign her up for the fall clas. Probably lunch and errands after that.

Sunday - going on friend's boat and BBQ at their place after. 3 families with 2 year olds and babies, newborn to 2 months. Should be interesting! Chat Icon

Monday - no plans yet.
