SimpliSafe. No contract, wireless, customizable, set it up ourselves, control it through our smartphones. Can't imagine why I'd ever go back to a traditional system.

Re: Alarm co
Banner Alarm in N. Massapequa. VERY highly recommend them. They do a REALLY nice install job, their prices are reasonable, and the central service pricing seems to be lower than most.

My husband set it up, but it seemed very easy. We have 4 motion sensors (upstairs hallway, downstairs foyer, living room area, garage), and a sensor on each exterior door. We also have a smoke detector and CO detector hooked up to the system, and the extra loud siren. We pay $24.99 a month. It can be as low as $14.99 a month (I think w/o smoke/CO and without smartphone control). There are more sensors and accessories that you can get http://simplisafe.com/build-my-system
Everything is connected to a central monitoring system, just like a traditional system, so if the alarm goes off, we get a phone call (they try our cells and our landline), and if we don't answer, then they send the police.

World Wide Security. They have their own in house central station monitoring company. The central station is there 24/7 and there's always a tech on call.
