First day of school
Are you putting your kid on the bus, or taking them in? DS will be routinely on the school bus. But he is starting K on Wed & I'm torn as to whether to take him in or let him be used to routine from day 1.

Re: First day of school
My DD will be starting K. She will be going on the bus from day 1 because it's the easiest way for them to transition. I think driving them on the 1st day if you plan for them to take the bus throughout the year will "open of a can of worms". I don't even want my DD to know that is even an option in the beginning. No blurred lines, just a clear message "this is what we do..." That being said, I will be secretly be following the bus, watch her get off and enter the school building haha.

Re: First day of school
I'm putting my dd on the bus and following it school. My dd is really freaked out over going on the bus but if I start driving her she will never get on it. I wouldn't mind driving her at all except the days that my youngest has prek I won't have the time. I'm going to follow her for the first few days and try to hide so she doesn't see me but I'm hoping to get some pictures of her going into school.

I'm not really ok with it but she needs to get used to it. So, bus.

Re: First day of school
From a BTDT mom, put them on the bus. Not sure what being a SAHM has anything to do with driving them. They need to get used to being on a bus and being independent and doing things on their own.

First day of school
We are technically walkers but, I got DS on the bus in the neighborhood (by saying a friend will be watching him when he's not at daycare).
That being said - we will be walking him on the first day. He has to lug in a restmat so I would rather just take him myself. I have to be there anyway for a parent tea so it just makes sense (we are walking - we live close to the school).

we are in ct and we started a week ago.
I was so nervous for the bus, but didn't want to drive her b/c I didn't want her depend on me. She did great. We were crazy parents and followed the bus to the school but when she got off she didn't even notice us there lol. They had teachers there to take K's off first and walk them to the classroom. They do that for 2 weeks, then slowly stop. Next week they will just be the hallway in case they get lost. Then by the 4th week they go on their own. I just had convo's with her that you don't get off until you see the school or our house with me outside (stop is my house). It's now great!!

I am a SAHM and for me it's easier to do the bus. We don't have to rush out and fight buses and traffic to get their on time like we did for pre-school. I am so happy for the bus now.

Thank you for this. I have been having anxiety all week about tomorrow. Like waking up with panic attacks.

This. My DS was at his school over the summer and got a bus. The first day of school was a nightmare and by the end of the week he was OK. Once a routine is established all will be fine.

Re: First day of school
I worked from home last year and DH and I took our oldest to his first day of K. After that, he took the bus to/from before/after care like every other day.
I asked him what he wanted to do this year, and he wanted us to take him the first day again, so that's what's happening.

no problem. I am not normally not a overly emotional person lol, but this got me. I was like how do I just send a 5 year old on a bus with knowing nothing. It was such a weird feeling. The few weeks leading up to school, we had a few Kindergarten playdates (we have an amazing PTA), bus orientation, and meet the teacher. By that time I felt like she knew the school. then me being crazy and following the bus and seeing the teachers take them off I felt much better. Don't feel like its crazt to follow. It's def ok to follow lol
