I'm in first trimester and feeling very sick. The only things that keep me from vomiting are very sweet things. Soda , very sweet cereal, chocolate, carbs, all crummy foods. Water , fruits, vegetables , chicken are all making me so sick! What am I to do? I can't keep eating like this, it's not healthy for baby or myself. Any suggestions? What helped you feel better?

I would just keep doing what you're doing to keep yourself feeling well. The morning/all day sickness will go away eventually and you will be able to eat somewhat normally again. Congrats!

Agree with KGools.

The first few weeks I ate Jolly Ranchers ALL DAY LONG - they were the only thing that helped subside the nausea.

Once you start feeling better you can focus on eating healthier. Feel better soon!

Eat the carbs.
It will only last a while.
You can cut portions & eat frequently to feel the best.

Eat whatever you can, even if that means not healthy choices. If you can keep it down go for it.
For both my pregnancies all I ate in the first trimester was spaghetti.

Agreed. I follow a Paleo diet most of the time (no grains, no added sugar, no dairy, etc)......but in my first tri, all that went out the window! For the worst of it (weeks 7-11), I lived on crackers, rice, flavored seltzer, and ralphs ices. Its temporary - just go with the flow and don't worry about it

Agree with everyone above, and look into getting a prescription for Diclegis. I'm on the full dosage now and it's the only thing that allows me to eat normal food and feel not completely miserable 24/7. You'll be very tired the first week or so, though, since it's just extended release Unisom (the antihistamine/sleep aid) and vitamin B6. It's a category A drug (like Tylenol) and completely safe.

Eating carbs and sugar are better than nothing. With any luck it will end when you get into your second trimester. You might be able to eat more balanced foods. My first trimester I ate mostly pasta. My second trimester I only wanted salad. I considered it a wash. Chat Icon

Eat what you can. I liked fresh pineapple cut up with ice and made into a smoothie. That was all I ate every day for a few months because everything else made me so ill.

A smoothie is a great idea and sweet potatoes were always easy for me to eat. Try that! :) And yea it passes so not to worry.
