I have some bonds from years ago that have no reached maturity yet, and was wondering if anyone knows how to calculate/if there is a website to calculate how much they will be worth at their full maturity?

Re: savings bonds

The bonds should be worth there face value at the date of maturity.

the columns on my print out are: serial #, series, denomination, issue date, final maturity date, issue price, interest rate, and value. Under value, it is showing the current value right now. I am positive of that, because i went on the gov. website and saw that if I cashed in right now, I would get x-dollars. That is the same amount shown under the "value" column. I do not see a face value column.

I know that interest rates vary though, and that you kind of have to estimate what the final amount will come out to, no? Maybe I am wrong about that part, because I always thought it was a fixed rate. Although, I am reading differently online right now, which is why there is no calculator to use to display the full-maturity value. I haven't found one yet, anyway

Also, just wanted to clarify that the face value on one of my bonds was $200, but it's already at $226 and has 8 more years to go. So I don't think that the face value is the final maturity price. Once it reaches the face value (usually around 11 years I think), it begins to gain interest (usually 4% if issued in the late 80s/early 90s), until reaching full maturity.

For example, as of August 2012, a $100 face value bond issued in September 1982 was worth $288.04 -- significantly more than the face amount.

My question was if anyone knew how to estimate what that final ending price would be?

I used this calculator last year when my DH found a bunch of his old bonds he got when he was born.

found that site to, but it won't estimate future bond prices for you, only up the current period :(

I looked up the exponential growth formula (from the 9th grade! lol) and I'm using that, haha
