Monitor for 2 kids

Help! I have no clue what to do! When dc2 arrives, my dd will be exactly 3 years old. We have a video monitor (Motorola) that I love and still works great, but it's outdated and can't expand with an additional camera. Currently, honestly, we rarely need the video, but she's still in a crib. I'm thinking once she's in a bed, we will want a video. But who knows?

I'm not sure if I should just use the current video monitor for the new baby, and get an inexpensive audio monitor for dd? Or should I get a new monitor that can handle 2 cameras? Or have 2 separate video monitors going? Wondering what everyone else does with more than one child, and please let me know which monitor system you recommend! Every brand I look at has such a polar mix of positive and negative reviews!

Monitor for 2 kids

I have a Motorola mb854 that we got a second camera for. We haven't used the second camera yet but the single one works great so I don't anticipate any issues.

I only have one baby but I made sure when I bought our monitor that it can be expanded. It also has a 2 camera model, same monitor though. It's the vtech safe and sound VM321. I love it and found mostly positive reviews. The people with complaints were completely irrational.

I have a 2.5 year old and a 3 month old. We bought the Motorola video camera with 2 cameras. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

I was in the same situation as you, except I had a summer infant monitor. They had just discontinued the monitor when I was looking to buy a second camera. I called Summer Infant and they actually gave me a good deal on a new monitor with 2 cameras. I sold the old one because it was still working great. Overall, I didn't spend much out of pocket. Maybe try calling Motorola.

Good idea to contact motorola. My husband just discovered a thing on the menu for switching cameras, so it may be able to do two! I just have to figure out which model I have!

It's worth a shot, but I know they changed the monitors and cameras recently. The one I had from my son (2.5 years old) was able to add another camera, except that the cameras now are not compatible with the monitor from 2.5 years ago. So we had to buy a whole new one. The good part about that is then you have a new 1 year warranty, which you wouldn't have if you just add a camera to your old system.

I have a Summer Infant monitor that you could add up to 4 cameras. When #2 was born I found someone on a mom swap facebook page that was selling a camera for my model and bought it off her. Cheaper than getting a whole new system with 2 cameras.
