Camp day at the bronx zoo?

Are there set days for camps to visit the bronx zoo or is it a madhouse every day during the Summer? I took dd today bc I know to avoid Wednesday's. We were there from 1-140 and it was crazy!!!

Camps are there every day during the summer. According to some of the staff Mondays tend to be a little slower. I have found going later in the day is a bit better.

I avoided a bunch of places on my staycation this summer because of this reason.

I have learned that most camps plan their trips though in the AM so if you can go later in the afternoon this could help with crowds.

I was just there on Friday and it wasn't so bad. There were lots of camp groups there but most of them didn't go to the "pay extra" parts (which is most of the zoo now) - the monorail, butterfly garden, carousel, etc. And to be honest, even with the camp groups, it was less crowded than the last couple of Saturdays I was there.

We got there at 11 and stayed til 3 or 4, and it had cleared out a bit by the afternoon too.
