Your child mumbling curse word/something nasty under their breath to you
How old were they, what did they say and how did you react? My 8 year old mumbled something I was hurt by when I was telling him something he didn't want to do and I went from 0-60 in the end he didn't even know what the word meant and he did tell me he heard it and just used it. how did you handle this kind of situation? I did go ballistic but then had a long talk with him. I'm not happy how I reCted to it but it was instant reaction (throwing assembled Lego sets he worked hard on, putting away things of his for awhile ) I felt horrible in the end doing this (him screaming and crying) and then I just wanted to talk about it which we did and we all felt better and he really was sorry for hurting my feelings. He's my first and it was just like how do I deal with this??

Hugs mommy. My son is almost 8 and he did something similar. We talked about it and I apologized for being upset and told him that my reaction was wrong. I told him that everyone makes mistakes. We talked about how we should react when we are upset, and how we are responsible for our own emotions.
