Bottle Warmer?
I've been using powdered Similiac for DD, who is 13 days old -- not a huge fan of it and thinking of switching to the ready to feed liquid. I'd want to purchase a bottle warmer since once opened the liquid needs to be refrigerated. Any recommendations on ones you have used and liked? Looking for something that heats the bottles pretty quickly......

Dh and I just use a Pyrex measuring cup and hot water either from the sink or our electric kettle.

That's what we did with DS.
This time around, I bought the Dr. Browns bottle warmer. For us, it's sooo much better with the bottle warmer. 3 minutes and 10 secs will warm a 5ish ounce bottle from the fridge perfectly. Its small too, so it doesn't take up much room on the counter.
I also like it bc it's like a timer for me to get a couple of things done in 3 minutes. I pop the bottle in, make a cup of coffee in the Keurig, run to the bathroom, feed the dog, and by the time the warmer beeps I'm ready to grab it and go. All in 3 minutes. Its like a challenge with myself to get as much sh!t done in 3 minutes as possible.

Bottle Warmer?
I didn't bother with a bottle warmer. We just kept a container by the sink, filled with hot water, put the bottle in, and took it out in about 3 minutes. But I will say that we didn't want DD to have warm bottles because we knew that there'd be times when we wouldn't be able to warm. We just warmed refrigerated bottles to take the chill out.

I have a bottle warmer, the brand is First Years. It uses steam & it works quickly-- it really came in handy with my older DS!

I used hot water in an oversized mug. Used a bottle warmer with my first and was such a waste

Bottle Warmer?
I used the Dr Browns one and didn't have any major issues with it. It was simple easy and quick. I find it was A lot quicker than hot water and when your baby is screaming for a bottle do you want them screaming for 5-10 min or 2 min guaranteed warm? Its not that expensive either.

We use Dr. browns. It is great, though we use distiller water in it. We used regular water in it once and it got gross. Distilled eater it works great.
Honestly the bottle warmer was the best investment I made. We just bought a second for our beach house and both of our moms bought one. Hot water works fine, but takes more then twice as long. Not fun when baby is screaming. Not to mention heating it in water takes more prep, get out the pirex, fill it with water, heat the water, add the bottle, swirl the bottle, all while balancing a crying or screaming baby. Bottle warmer we just stick in the bottle, hit the timer and comfort DD until it's done. I know exactly how long it will take and I even count down at the end which soothes her because she learned that means it coming. May be one of the best items I purchased.

We had a Dr Brown's bottle warmer for DS. We used it a handful of times, but then milk leaked into it and it just got nasty. We wound up throwing it away and never looked back. DS drank room temp formula. We will not have a bottle warmer for #2. Waste of money IMO.

We felt the same. We just wanted his bottles to get to room temp. There are so many times we are out and about and we can't get the bottle warm (I will usually just stick it between my boobs to warm up some), when I can't BF him.

This happened to us twice, once because the lid wasn't on tight enough, and once because the bottle stopper was in. You shouldn't put the bottles in the warmer with the lid on either.
Both times we cleaned it right out and the machine was clean and fine after. You can see it happen immediately because the water in the tank looks foggy.
And believe me I'm highly allergic to mold, lost partial hearing because of it, so I'm anal retentive about it.
If your using ready to feed you need the bottle warner or water to bring it up to room temp because yes you need to keep it refrigerated. We use the bottle warmer just to being it to room temp.
What brand formula are you going to use?

I would use a large plastic mug or cup filled with super hot tap water. I would just float the bottle in there for a few minutes. Perfect and easy

I had a bottle warmer for DS. Like others stated it got nasty once the milk spilled. It's impossible to clean after that and it smells awful when you continue to use it.
For DD we heated up water in a small sauce pan while we changed her and then placed the bottle in it for 2-4 minutes. We used a glass bottle to heat the formula and them poured it into her bottle.
Easy, fast and cheap.

BEST THING EVER.
You just fill the little cup it comes with with the amount of water you need, depending on the size of the bottle, and it would steam and heat it up to the PERFECT temp every single time.
I loved that little thing!!!!
My son is no longer on bottles but we started with the powder because it was cheaper -- he had liquid in the hospital -- and then he just couldn't tolerate the powder, hated it, made him gassy, made him not want to eat as much. So, I had to $uck up the extra cost for ready-to-feed but the bottle warmer was the best thing ever!
I used Similac Sensitive in the orange bottle.
