6 month old schedule
Can anyone share a general idea of your schedule?
Dd is not sleeping well at night and fighting naps. She is ebf and right now I just feed her when she's fussy or when it's convenient for me but I think I can probably space then out more than I am.

Maybe she's hungry? Have you started purees or cereal?

I would definitely suggest starting purees and/or cereal. This is DS's schedule, it does vary, but he sticks pretty close to it, and he went into very naturally:
6:00-6:30 wake up / BF 8:00 BF (before going to daycare) 9:30-10 Cereal & veggies 10:30ish 30-60 min nap 11 8oz bottle 12ish 60-90 nap 2 8oz bottle 3 30 minute nap 5 8oz bottle 6:30ish cereal & veggies 8-8:30 BF & bed

I haven't started solids yet. She's not 6 months for a few more days and I was actually leaning toward waiting until closer to 7 months since she was a month early and I just don't feel like she's ready. She's not quite sitting up yet and I'm just not in a hurry. I don't think it's a matter of hunger, she only takes one side at most feedings and I know I have plenty of milk left when she finishes.
I think if anything it could be separation anxiety. She just wants to be held or nursed to sleep. She has no routine whatsoever since we're on the go a lot and she is usually great if we're out. At home she gets crabbier and overtired bc she won't nap well anymore. My older one was in a solid routine by 8 weeks and had put herself on a pretty reliable schedule by this time. She napped in the crib from early on without a fight. This one used to nap anywhere but the crib but now it's mostly in someone's arms or the stroller or carseat. I love the cuddles but I can't get anything done when she wants to take a 2.5 hour nap in my arms! I do wonder if she's teething but I can't tell for sure at this point. I think I may need to just jot down when she gets hungry and tired for a few days and see if there is some natural routine I'm missing so I can stick to it more. I got her down for bed earlier tonight so we'll see if that helps her nighttime sleeping. She used to sleep a 7-8 hour stretch at night until she hit 4 months.

DS had the same issue with sleeping. Months 4-6 were awful. I started purées at 6 months and then he started to STTN again. If I have another baby, I'd start purées before 6 months.
For naps, I'd try to do CIO a bit. I wish I had. Only now at 12 months can DS put himself to sleep.

I agree with this. Ds was holding his head well and sitting with support and in the high chair well when we started solids at 5 months, but wasn't sitting alone (still isn't, not well). It's made a big difference in his naps. And his disposition is better. That said, only you know your child, if you don't think she is ready, don't do it.

I guess I just didn't think it would make a difference. My older dd napped well but didn't sttn after 4 months either and nothing helped until I weaned her at 16 months. I'll see what the ped suggests at her 6 month appointment.

My daughter was similar. Food didn't help. At 22 months she still wakes up 1-3 times a night. STTN is a developmental milestone.

6:00am wakes up, bottle Nap until 9ish, then I bring him downstairs to play while I get breakfast ready/clean 10:00am cereal, fruit, bottle Play and music/books 12 noon, nap 2:00pm bottle 3:00ish nap 6:00pm cereal, vegetable, bottle 8:00 bed
He dropped the bedtime bottle on his own. Sometimes, this all shifts half hour or so in either direction. I formula feed now 6oz and he's been on solids since 4mo.

I wish ds ate 6oz, he's been getting 8oz bottles (formula or BM, no difference to him) since 4&1/2 months! This boy is going to eat us out of house and home!

Thanks everyone. I still don't know how to get this girl to sleep better but I may go ahead with oatmeal and purees after I talk to the ped. I may just have to get used to cat naps and cosleeping for the time being. We did just ditch the swaddle so things went from bad to worse but hopefully she'll get used to that fairly soon.

Is he talking two hour naps? I'm very jealous. Dd will only do that if she's being held.

Very similar situation over here! 4-6 months were terrible. DS is 7 months and it's only now after doing some gentle CIO over the last few weeks that he's able to really put himself to sleep at night without us having to go in there. He's not quite crawling, but more mobile, so I basically just put 3 or 4 pacifiers around him in his crib and eventually he rolls into one and is able to soothe himself without us having to go in and replace a lost paci. Naps are a whole different beast -- he still will only nap in 30 min increments in his crib but will sleep for 1-1.5 hours if he's worn in a carrier, in the car or in his stroller. I accepted defeat in the nap department weeks ago and resigned myself to the fact that I may have to just drive him around or wear him around for a nap until he matures enough to put himself to sleep for naps or he stops napping!
We really don't have a set schedule at all. I just follow his lead most days - he too, is EBF - started purees very slowly at around 6 months due to his sensitive tummy and multiple food intolerances through my BM.
In general, here's sort of what our "schedule" looks like...
6,6:30 - wake/nurse 7:30, 8 - oatmeal/fruit puree 9:30ish - nurse/1st nap 12:30ish - nurse 1,1:30 - fruit/veggie puree 2, 3ish - 2nd nap 4 - nurse 615ish - bath, BM bottle, bedtime routine 7 - bedtime
he usually gets up once or twice during the night to eat still. sometimes at 2am and sometimes at 4-430ish.
I don't necessarily buy into the whole "solids make them sleep better" idea. It's definitely not the case over here!
