Spinoff to the Duggars- Duggars or Browns?

So I was reading an article about the Brown family today (of Sister Wives fame) and thought of the thread on the Duggars. The two families have some similarities- huge family, non-mainstream beliefs, legal troubles. As I was reading, I was contemplating which family had crappier parents.

IMO, the Browns are less crappy than the Duggars. I do not agree with their beliefs or their lifestyle, however, they do not appear to be forcing their beliefs on their children. All of the kids attend regular school, the older ones- boys and girls are either off at college (in dorms, no less and at legitimate colleges) or planning for college. Many of the kids have expressed that they don't want to enter into polygamist marriages when they're older and the parents seem ok with that.

I mean, they're running from the law because bigamy is a felony and brought it upon themselves because of the show- so they're not the brightest, but to me, they're still the lesser of 2 evils.

What does everyone else think?

I don't agree with either. I'm looking at this as if I had a daughter, I would be LIVID if my daughter was that submissive to her husband.

I actually watch Sister Wives and think they are pretty down to earth, regular people. Although their polygamy is not something I understand or believe in I can see myself having more in common with them then the Duggars and their stepford children.

I find Cody to be creepy and weird. But the sister wives and the kids seem relatively normal considering their lifestyle.

Duggars are more cult like.

i agree, i find Cody very creepy, but they do allow their children freedom to lead their lives and chose their own paths in life.
I don't think they are running from the law, though. am i wrong?
I love the Duggars show, but i personally could never be a part of it - their whole lifestyle is too constricting

None of the wives on Sister Wives look happy. Cody is so weird and creepy. The Duggars actually look happy and seem to have fun.

I prefer the Browns. The only thing I don't like about them is their financial background.

They don't pressure their kids and they go against their extremist (Warren Jeffs), Meanwhile, the Duggars kind of follow their extremist. In addition, they do not spread hate against the gay community. I recall him saying something along the lines of how he can't criticize them, even if he doesn't believe in gay marriage, because his marriage(s) is/are also "different". To show that level of tolerance for a fundamentalist says a lot to me.

Agree as well. The Brown's are normal family who just happen to practice polygamy. The Duggar's are insane. I feel terrible for their kids especially the girls who are essentially raised to be breeding machines with no autonomy of their own.
