After you had a baby...what did people send/bring you for dinners?
I'm looking to send food to my brothers family in Virginia. Any rec's of things you received after having a baby that you really liked? Looking for something besides Omaha Steaks, Edible Arrangements etc. TIA!

I would just get a GC. Then they can do take out when they want.
I didn't get a ton of food but did get a huge tray of ziti and at that point I was not eating carbs really as I was trying to lose the baby weight.

No one sent me anything after I gave birth but I think this was a great idea! There were times I went an entire day without eating and would wind up scarfing down all the junk I could find at 4pm.
When I had surgery last year though my friends had food delivered to our house. They told us to pick a place and what we wanted and they ordered it for me. If you want to send them a meal, I think this would be the best way to do it. I am sure they would really appreciate it, as I did!

Agree with this, especially if the place offers delivery service. Believe me, when u have just given birth, u do not want to leave the house

I received gift cards to Outback Steakhouse because I could order what we wanted online and DH went to pick it up curbside.

Fresh cold cuts and salads from our favorite deli. It's so nice to be able to just grab something cold but filling when you only have a few minutes to eat!

We received roasted chicken with salads. Veggie lasagna. Brisket. Bagels, lox, and cream cheese. Blintz soufflé. All were very appreciated.
I usually make chicken Marsala, with risotto, salad, a veggie. Alternatively, I make chicken cutlets, or roast chicken. I have also sent gift cards.

I had a bunch of homemade dinners that people brought over. But if you have to send something I would just send a gift card for a take out place, or even order the food one night and have it delivered to them. Let them know that dinner is coming though. Sending / bringing food after having my second baby was the best gift anyone could have given us!

A 2 week mealtrainwas set up for me. We got different variations of pasta, ( baked ziti, spag and meat balls), chicken pot pie, pot roast, mexican theme meals (enchiladas, and tacos with fixins), mac snd cheese , grilled chicken with a wuinoa salad, japanese stir fry noodle bowls. We got several More, but I cant forget.
I have made pastas, soups, pulled chicken, and casseroles for other mommies.

My friends sent us tons of italian food after we were released which was super sweet. When they had their baby I had delivery set up for 3 days to send them food from their fave local places.

blue apron (a little more involved since the ingredients are all sent to you and you have to prep and cook but it doesn't require thinking or a trip to the grocery store); something like fresh direct but in virginia? fresh direct has a lot of heat and serve meals that are good.

We had Wolfermans delivered to us - and it was awesome!
fresh english muffins, breakfast breads, spreads etc. Made snacking/breakfast super easy those first few weeks and i loved it

DH's cousin and family sent us bagels, juice and cream cheese. My mom brought over Spinach Pie for dinner.
