The decision for #2

Was it harder than #1?

What was your reasoning for going for another (or more)?

How did it change your life?

Re: The decision for #2

I always wanted more than one child. My first was a DS and I really wanted to try for a DD. My second pregnancy was a little harder (physically). I was a little older and DS and DD are almost 7 years apart, but ultimately it was well worth it. Once you have your first baby....you are so much more at ease taking care of your second or third baby.....less panic at every little whimper LOL
How did it change our life......it filled our life with more joy than imaginable !!!

The decision for #2

Dd is 8 weeks but we already know well be trying for another around her first bday, and hopefully a 3rd after that. We've always wanted multiple children, and I absolutely adore dd

Re: The decision for #2

I think the decision to have the first was harder for us. Once we had him it was easy deciding to have another. Our family just didn't feel complete with one child and I wanted DS to have a friend and playmate in the house. I'd like to have a 3rd now, but DH is not on board. Chat Icon

I always wanted 2, but when dd was born, I really wasn't sure anymore. She just hit 20 months, and now that she's turning into a little girl, I'm sure now that I want another one.

The decision for #2

We always wanted 2..my second pregnancy was so
much better and it is hard to juggle 2 in terms of attention, etc but having them 3 years apart means more independence of my older one so that helps...you forget a lot but it does seem easier because you're more relaxed if that makes sense

Re: The decision for #2

The decision to try for #2 has been very easy for us, because I definitely want DS to have at least one sibling & we know we're not done at one child. I also don't know how long it will take to ttc successfully & I don't mind having them closer in age (DS is 13 months old now). I would not have been ready to try before DS turned 1, the first year was very overwhelming in so many ways, but lately I'm starting to feel like myself again & we are finally feeling ready to go for it.

Going from one to two was much harder than having just one. I thought having one kid was a breeze. Things are a lot more chaotic with two, someone always needs something and obviously the more kids you have, the thinner you're spreading yourself. But you figure it out and get into a groove.

We always wanted more than one kid so trying for another was an easy decision. Neither of us had any hesitation whatsoever about having another baby.

Life is busier now with two but it's also a lot more fun, there is a lot more love in our home, and having another was the best decision we made. Chat Icon

Re: The decision for #2

We had always planned on having 3. I couldn't imagine having an only child. DH and I both had siblings and we wanted DS to experience that. DS1 was such a difficult newborn and a pretty tough infant that it took me a long time to be ready to TTC #2. My boys are 3.5 years apart and I love the age difference. DS1 was independent, potty trained and not jealous at all of his brother. He was also a much easier child once he turned 1. DS2 was the opposite. He was a very easy baby, but has been a handful since he turned 1.

Going from 1 to 2 was easier than I thought it was going to be, but 2 is definitely harder than 1. It's more expensive, there's more to juggle and life is a bit more hectic. It's totally worth it though. Seeing my boys interact and how much they love each other melts my heart.

The decision for #2

We knew we'd have 2, we just didn't know when. We waited until dd was almost 4 and the girls are 4.5 years apart. Older dd is independent but became very needy once the baby was born. She wants constant attention and although she is helpful, it is very draining dealing w her. The baby is a dream on the other hand. She's not the best sleeper but is so pleasant. And now that she's developing a personality it is so nice to see the girls together. I just know they'll be best friends and I couldn't imagine not having dd2. Worth all of the fatigue!

Re: The decision for #2

There was a point where I thought I was 'one and done'. That was before DS turned 1.

After that we knew we wanted to wait and enjoy him as an only child for awhile. We decided we would try for #2 after his 3rd birthday. It happened almost 6 months before.

We are still adjusting as you know Chat Icon but we always knew we wanted at least 2. It is hard, especially being a FTWM. There is even more guilt about finding the time to spend with both when you are already limited because of getting home late etc.

Now that DD is 9 months she is craving attention, so its hard to focus on just one.
I totally get that its truly still easy at this age gap, but when she becomes mobile and vocal I feel like it may become harder to split my time. Who knows, maybe I'm over thinking it all Chat Icon

All that said if we could afford it and I could be a SAHM we would have a 3rd. Unfortunately, that is not possible so 2 it is.

The decision for #2

I've always wanted more than 1 child. For me I wanted to try for a 2nd as soon as my first was born. Now 3 years later, I still only have 1. He is special needs and I am over 40. Still want another and I don't feel like my life is complete with only 1 child. But I have come to terms with the fact that it may not happen. But I regret not going with my feeling to have a 2nd immediately after 1st was born.

The decision for #2

I am def struggling whether I should have #2. Deciding to have #1 wasn't an issue at all... And yes, I am still young so I have plenty of time to think about it, but I just don't want a huge age gap... My dd will be 2.5 in nov so I feel like I'm running out of time to decide. I've never been so conflicted in my life lol...

Re: The decision for #2

We never had a doubt in our minds that we wanted 2. We just couldn't picture having an only child unless we didn't have a choice in the matter. It's the debate over going for #3 where we don't agree. I think in a year we'll have a serious discussion and see if we're both still on different pages. Even if we do go for one more, I know the time isn't right now so it's not currently on the table.

ETA- I personally would prefer to not have much more than a 3 year age gap. My sibling is 7 years younger and DH's siblings are 14 years older than him. While I love my sibling and we have a great relationship, we don't really hang out very often. I always felt like I was missing out not having a sibling close to my age to experience things with (vacations, holidays, etc). I never had that built in playmate and I want that for my kids.

Re: The decision for #2

We have two and neither decision to try for them was difficult. We knew we wanted children and we knew that we wanted our dd to have a sibling. I don't even remember life before my girls. My girls are close in age (19 months apart) so if was challenging in the beginning but now it's pretty easy most days. They fight sometimes but they really are best friends.

We have been toying with the idea of a 3rd for a while and that decision has been hard. Everyone one we talk to tells us 3 puts you over the edge. At this point if we had a 3rd our oldest would be in kindergarden so that is swaying us a little more but it's a huge decision.

The decision for #2

For me deciding on #2 was much harder than my first. We thought we were one and done for so long. What really made us want another is when my dd starting asking for a sister. I think she sometimes made the decision for us. I also knew we didn't want them close in age and I wanted to truly enjoy my dd before adding another to the mix. It really gave us time to think and decide ultimately that we did want another.

Dc# 2 will be about 3.5 years apart from dd#1. For us it's perfect. DD is out of diapers and more independent.

I've always wanted three for personal reasons. After we had DD, I thought we would have two and see how it goes. There was never any doubt she would be getting a sibling. We wanted them close in age and we decided not to wait too long since we are both older.

I miscarried #2 two weeks ago. Absolutely devastating and I'm heartbroken. We wil definitely try again and this brought back the feeling of wanting three, God willing.

Re: The decision for #2

There was never a doubt in either of our minds that we wanted 2+. We were horrified at the thought of 2 under 2 because DS was such a bad sleeper initially, but once he turned 18 mo we got baby fever and started TTC. We waited a little longer to try again because we got pregnant easily the first time around, and while we got pregnant easily again I had 3 miscarriages before this pregnancy which we were not expecting at all. We still didnt give up because we both badly wanted to give DS a sibling.

DH has always wanted 3, I always wanted 2, and we always figured we would see how 2 goes before deciding about a third. I was leaning toward 3 when I had my losses, so now I'm not sure I want to put myself through all of that again. We'll see. Its also hard to think of this being my last pregnancy. 3 will be a harder decision than 2.
