I think I do things the way I do is because I was in elementary school in the late 70s and this was the way we did things.

Heck I'll even take the 80s. I'm an 80s baby and I think it was so much simpler. I'm a bare minimum mom when it comes to this stuff and it's still stressful for me.

Oh and another thing I found true in the article is how it seems they are going back to school earlier and earlier lately!
Not so much here, but in other states!
I really don't believe school should be allowed to start until AFTER Labor Day!

I agree, we would go to rockbottom pharmacy and get a new trapper keeper and that was it for back to school shopping. I would use last years bookbag and old supplies. Life was so much simpler.

Lol I always had the boring left overs as well because my mom would get our supplies like a week after school started.
The first day of school, I would have last years book bag, a pencil and either looseleaf paper or a left over book from the year before. She always said that we didn't need it for the first week. We also got the list on the first day not beforehand. But I think she will still have done it that way regardless to buy her week or two.

I grew up in IL and we started school late August but I was out of school the first week in June. So its weird for the NE but very normal other places.
I think because of how much snow we got slammed with they started schools earlier this year. My DS goes to catholic school and they always started a week earlier than public. This year public is starting the same week, they definitely pushed it up this year.
I remember the whole asbestos debacle and being so excited when we started in middle of September. Lol

What, you mean you didn't use the good ol' paper bags. I never had book covers, lmfao.
I have an older sister and I remember counting the years until I could get a blue binder so I can draw all over it. I was so bummed that I had the marble notebooks and she had the cool binders.

I'm in CT. Born and raised on LI. School went back here in CT today. I hate it I feel like they are robbed of the summer. Just give a few more days lol. Poor kids. And it's still 80 degrees out. They don't get out much earlier than NY. But they account for more snow days.
It still feels bad lol
