Has Anyone's LO Loosened/Knocked Out Baby Teeth?

I'm so afraid 14-month-old DS is going to lose his top 4 front teeth! He fell into one of his toys this morning, and I guess he hit his mouth really hard. It was a bloodbath, I was so scared. His gums were bleeding for a few minutes, and then he was fine. He was acting/eating normally the rest of the day. But then tonight, he was biting on a toy, and when he took it out of his mouth, there was blood on it, and on his face Chat Icon.

I called the doctor, and they recommended I bring him to the dentist. But I don't really want him getting an x-ray.

My question is: Has this ever happened to anyone's LO, and their teeth didn't fall out? If this happened and your LO's teeth DID fall out, how long did it take between the time of injury and the teeth turning color/falling out? Thanks for reading!

Yes. My brother had a bath accident when he was 2. He lost half the tooth and the hospital took out the other half. He also needed stitches. He was missing a tooth for a few years until his adult tooth came in.

Most people thought it was adorable. Chat Icon

dd knocked out her front tooth when she turned 2. they were worried about the other tooth next to it. we just had to watch for blood blisters and if the other tooth turned grey. which never happened.
they did do a xray but it wasnt the easiest to get and she is really excellent at the sitting still at the dentist.
you can bring to dentist. they may not even need to take an xray . i recommend kiddssmile- they have locations across li.
hope your lo feel better!

Has Anyone's LO Loosened/Knocked Out Baby Teeth?

Happened to my friends dd a couple of weeks ago. Her 12 mo was walking and fell hitting her mouth on a wooden bench/chest. Gushing blood everywhere. Called dr and they said to watch it to see if teeth turned grey. She ended up taking her in to the pedi and her teeth were fine but she tore the piece that attaches her gums to upper lip.

She's fine and so are her teeth.

My DD damaged a front incisor when she was about 3. It bled for a while and we brought her to the dentist. The dentist didn't need to take it out or do anything really (no Xray) and just said that it may turn gray. It did turn a little gray in the following months compared to her other incisor but it was hard for anyone else to notice.

It just fell out a month ago, and her other "healthy" front tooth fell out right after it. (She's 7.5)

I have a friend who has a infant DS who lost a tooth after he pulled a wood side table down onto himself. It'll be missing until his adult tooth comes in. Her attitude is there could be worse things in life!

Hopefully your DS is fine!

My brother accidentally got hit in the mouth with a golf club when he was 3.They tried to save his teeth but they didn't take and so he lost them. He looked adorable. I would go to see a dentist though. They may not even have to do an X-ray but they know what they are looking at it and you want to make sure there isn't any infection.

Yup - DS fell twice in one week when he was about 18 months. One of his front teeth got some loose he pulled it out himself! Chat Icon

They did an x-ray and found that the whole tooth came out - which was great. And now we are waiting for his permanent tooth to come in...

about two months ago, my 4 year old fell face first off the couch and into the corner of our coffee table. blood all over.

He split his gum on the bottom and one tooth was very wiggly. Spoke with the ped dentist who said it should firm up (soft foods) or it may fall out, luckily its just a baby tooth.

Within a week or so, firmed up a ton. Now, two months later, not at all wiggly!

If the teeth start to turn brown/gray/black, they are dead and should be removed!

I know you don't want your son to get x-rays, but you should take him to a dentist. Abscesses can form under the gum and make the tooth infected. It's better to be safe and have someone just check it out.

This!

They may not even have to do an xray

You have pediatric dentists around right? Sounds dumb to ask but my god we have them here nearly every quarter mile on one side of town!
