DD yeast infection/B strep/frequent urination help!
About 31/2 weeks ago my DD (4 years old)was diagnosed with a yeast infection and she was put on Nystatin (which she has been on before when she was a baby and it helped). Her symptoms were very frequent urination (like 20-30 times a day!) a reddish rash and touching herself down their. They also tested for urinary track infection which came back negative .. but she came back positive for B strep (which they test women for when your having a baby). They treated with antibiotics which have been finished a week now. The yeast infect. looked like it was going away then about 4 days ago it got worse again... she is touching again, running to the bathroom and is now having numerous accidents, which she never does. I need answers, she is being tormented by all of this, she is so uncomfortable... I am going to call pediatrician in the morning but has anyone ever experienced this with their DD?? Any suggestions of what else it could be or how to help her?? PLEASE HELP!

Re: DD yeast infection/B strep/frequent urination help!
I can say that the antibiotics are probably making the yeast infection worse. I konw myself the second I take an antibiotic, I get a yeast infection. Like clockwork. In fact, my Dr usually prescribes me Diflucan right along with the antibiotic now.
I bet that is what happened. The round of antibiotics for the Strep B probably caused her original yeast infection to come back with a vengeance. Poor thing!
Call the ped and they will probably put her back on something for the yeast infection.

doesn't yogurt or a probiotic help with yeast infections?
My sister is one who gets an yeast infection on almost every antibiotic she takes so I agree with pp that the medicine probably made it worse or come back.
Ask the dr what she should take with it.
