4 month and daycare-

i know i had this in the past, but what does your 4 month do all day at daycare?

I was a little startled this morning when the director of the daycare asked me what we do all day w my son to keep him stimulated, she felt she is w him all day

She told me he is on th activity mat, einstein, the bouncer,he people watches etc
which is all fine with me and we do the same at home- (exceot we have a swing)

She also advised me that she rocks him to nap in her arms, because he will not nap on his own (BAD BAD BAD) we do nto have that probelm at home

I am looking for some suggestions, what can i suggest or say?
i am a new mom and we need daycare

4 month and daycare-

My DS was in daycare from 8 weeks and never had to tell them what to do. they did what worked at daycare and we did what worked at home and it wasn't always the same thing but it also never caused an issue as to the other place and routine etc.

I agree with the PP in that the daycare caregivers should do whatever works... they shouldn't be guilt-tripping you either.

I have a 4mo as well and my nanny cares for him now. He doens't like to sleep in the crib and but would go down for 20mins at a stretch if he's very tired after a feeding. He would also fall asleep and does it longer in the stroller if she takes him on a walk.

With me, he would get fussy and when I put him in his swing, he goes to sleep on his own.

When he's awake, we put him on the mat for some tummy time so he can practice grabbing and rolling over. He also uses the exersaucer now indoor and the swing indoors/outdoors. In fact, my little one can sit for a long time outside in his portable swing just listening to the birds and watching people go by...

Wow. Is this an experienced daycare? I'd have to pull out my sheets but they did tummy time, reading time, baby sign language, singing time, they did what they had to in order to get dd to nap which was usually in swing then they transitioned her to crib. My daycare teachers love Pinterest for creative ideas.

funny thing is, they were highly recomended- and i appreciate her asking me but do i worry now?

do i shop elsewhere?
i am having a hard wnough time moving my LO from his sleeper/rocker to his crib

I would be surprised a daycare director is asking you for suggestions on what to do with your son while he is in their care (at these centers id assume they are 'experts' at childcare --in their way that allows them to run things smoothly. I agree with above poster also--sometimes what works at home doesn't necessarily transfer to daycare and vise versa.

I think the daycare means well and you should probably stay with them unless you feel uncomfortable and have a better alternative.

Have they tried putting your LO in the crib and just moving it back and forth on its wheels? At the daycare I used to keep my firstborn, that is what they do with most of the babies. They have a designated nap time for everyone and the ladies would gently rock the babies while they are in the crib until the babies fall asleep. That gets them used to sleeping in the crib.
