Taking care of a baby while sick
DH and I both have the stomach flu... Or food poisoning at the same time. It hit me around 5 and DH around 8 so thankfully he was able to put DD down to sleep. Any strategies you can share for how we can take care of her tomorrow if we are still barfing our brains out? Or better yet if she is barfing her brains out too?

DD would be in heaven bc she'd pretty much get to watch tv all day. Hope you feel better soon and that your DD doesn't become the next victim!

Re: Taking care of a baby while sick
When my husband and I had it bad, my mother swooped in and saved us, knowing full well she'd get it herself. When we had lesser versions, we wore surgical masks and washed out hands like crazy and took shifts. Good luck :(

Re: Taking care of a baby while sick
Ugh, DH and I both had the stomach flu within hours of each back in April. Neither of us were in any shape to take care of DD. I called my parents and they came over to watch her for us while we layed in bed. It was awful. If you have someone willing to come over, I highly suggest that! Hope you feel better!

Taking care of a baby while sick
I would call my mom and ask her to come help me with DD- there is no way I could handle vomiting and caring for her.

I just out the tv on. A million toys. Gated her so she had room but couldn't escape and plopped on the couch
If I had someone to help I would have def called for it

Re: Taking care of a baby while sick
DH and I both got stomach bugs TWICE at the same and it was miserable. The first time we had to call my mom to help us and I felt terrible when she got it too, but we couldn't do it without her. We couldn't even take care of ourselves. The second time we both came down with it overnight, getting sick from like 9pm to 3am. Thankfully the vomiting had stopped by morning, DS slept through the worst of it and we took shifts caring for him the next day.
Hope you feel better soon!!!

I had a stomach bug and DH was at work. My mom came by. It's basically impossible to take care of a kid when you're puking!

Re: Taking care of a baby while sick
Thanks... I hope it's gone by morning, but not banking on it. If DD gets it I know keeping her hydrated is good but anything else I should know?
We found some Zofran lying around... It's not expired. Should we give it a go?

Taking care of a baby while sick
I just bear down and push through. I hate to barf but I have horrible bouts of Vertigo where the whole world literally spins like I'm hung over and on a roller coaster ride AT THE SAME TIME. I feel like I wish I could gag but just can't seem to. Its horrible.
Through that I have to sit up (a freaking miracle) and comb my daughter's hair at a time when fine motor skills are nearly impossible. Hubby says I lean up against the sofa kinda funny and get really pale through it but its done and she's off to school and I'm back to laying down waiting for the world to stop spinning (even with my eyes closed).
Best of luck to you!
Hope you guys are back on your feet soon. And truly hope the little one gets a pass on the bug.

This. And also if you have a bouncy seat, jumperoo, anything to strap her into and let her watch tv. I had to do that once when I was very sick and had no one who could come help. Feel better!
