bottle to sippy transition
help..dd is 13 months and will drink from sippy both milk and water but wont drink all of what i give unless i do the bottle. how did you do this full transition and when? am i too late and have made a bad habit?

My son is going to be 1 in a few weeks. I told my husband that I want to eliminate any bottles during the day but allow him to have is morning bottle and his last bottle. Once he's good with that I'll work to get rid of the AM bottle followed by the PM bottle. DS does drink water from a zippy cup though.

My DD is 15 months and refuses to drink from a sippy. It's the one thing that really frustrates me.

Eh, no kid goes off to college drinking from a bottle. DS won't drink milk from a sippy so I still give him a morning and night bottle of milk. I'd rather him get milk than not. I don't let it bother me, and I'm in no rush.

Don't panic. My DS finally gave up the bottle just after 2.
We had cut it out except for morning and night. Give it some time. PP is right....no kid goes off to college with a bottle. Pick and choose your battles and when you want to fight them. If you want to do it now then go for it but its perfectly fine to wait a bit if you want.

This is what we did at 15 months.... but the result was he will no longer drink milk during the day! oops!
he still have is morning and night bottle and water throughout the day with lots of cheese and yogurt, dr says he is getting plenty, so we are sticking with it for now.

Our rule is no bottle during the day, same at daycare. She gets her am and pm bottle and she is a crack addict with those so waiting to wean for awhile.

The nuk sippy worked wonders for us. It's a slower flow, so my dd took to it right away. Then I never gave a bottle again. I used the nuk for about a week and then started introducing a bunch of other sippys.

Dd loves her sippy and has since 6 months. The problem is the milk in the sippy. I know it's a transition and with all transitions for us it takes a week or so to get used to the change. In the meantime my dr said no problem to still give bottles bc getting the milk is more important than dropping the bottles...at this age (12 months).
