Keeping baby cool outdoors in the summer
Aside from staying in the shade, wearing light clothes, tons of sunscreen and a hat, any recommendations for keeping your LO cool while you're at outdoor events? We have a party coming up soon where we could be outside for a few hours and just want to be prepared (we won't be able to go inside to escape the heat).

For parties, we used to bring the rock and play. We had the basic one without all the fuzzy padding so the fabric was nice and cool. We kept it in the shade and she stayed a lot cooler than she would have being held all day.

I second the stroller fan and how about a little spray bottle of water? Just to mist the face a little.

I had a stroller fan and it was great! I also had an umbrella for the infant carrier bc the sunshade was too short to do any good. And ps: my dd would get so hot in the carrier bc of that material... You might want to put some type of breathable cotton behind the baby.

Honestly we never did anything. The day of ds christening it was almost 100. He was in a diaper and hat and we just kept him hydrated.

Re: Keeping baby cool outdoors in the summer
During the heat wave last year we were at a BBQ outside, no AC inside at all, it was horrific, we were dying. He was in a diaper in the shade most of the time. He was totally fine. You would be surprised, they don't seem to be that bothered like us and it really isn't that hot out yet!
Ds was outside ALL summer last year and could not have sunblock yet on top of it which was actually the hard part cause we just didn't want him burning. It was really not too bad.

Re: Keeping baby cool outdoors in the summer
as others said keep them in a cool, shady spot in light, cotton clothes. I never put socks or a hat on. Also, I got the net that I put over the stoller or rocker to keep the bugs away. Both my boys were born in the summer and never had issues with them overheating.
