Coast Guard Approved Life Jackets that are Comfy??
DH and I just bought a boat, and we tried to take our kids out on it (8mo and 2-1/2 yo) and they both hated their life jackets. Does anyone have recs for a Coast guard approved life jacket (with the thing behind the head) that their kids didn't hate wearing? On my 8mo especially the thing looks so uncomfy (riding up and mushing his face).

Didn't realize their was a coast guard approved ones…
We got a regular life vest for my son, and he loves it when we take him on the boat..

We have a similar one the covering is neoprene and is softer....We had one that was stiffer and he hated it. The neoprene covering one he tolerates.

I have neoprene HO ones from Costco. Kids had no problem wearing started wearing at 8 months

They are great but definitely won't work for the 8 month old and could possibly not work for the 2.5 year old. It depends on how much they weigh and if it fits correctly. I know that I tried one on my son last year (he was about 34 pounds) and it fit, but I dont know if it's would use it on a child much smaller than him.

These are not made for open water boating either. Canoe on a lake or in a pool? Perfect. Any choppiness at all no good

Congratulations on your boat 
Our kids have been on our boat since birth and always wore the one you described. They are recommended for kids under 30 lbs.
Thankfully they didn't seem uncomfortable but safety outweighs discomfort...

Thanks all! We have the neoprene ones, so I guess that is the best we are going to do. Hopefully as my LO gets taller, it will be more comfy. My 2.5yo is just being a 2.5yo, so winning her over will just depend on her mood!
