Boys and hairstyles

How do you do your DS's hair? This winter I haven't styled it much at all bc once the winter hat goes on it flattens anyway. DS1 is 4 and his hair goes forward with a cowlick. I try to keep it short and just spike the front with gel, but once it starts to grow in it goes all over.
DS2 is 2 and has nicer hair that's a little longer. No cowlick issues, but still not sure how to style it. I wanted to brush the side like a feather bc he has that 70's hair style I love, but it's rare he lets me try anything with it.

Anyone else have issues with their boy's hair? Especially in the winter with the winter hats?

Re: Boys and hairstyles

DS1 hates the thought of any "hair style" he keeps his hair short and for the most part I dont even have to brush it....thats they way he likes it!

DS2 refuses to get a hair cut. So his hair is longer and messy. After nap time it sticks straight up in the back! generally when I can get near him with a brush I just push it to the side and do the best I can!!! And after a winter hat comes off,... forget it! He insists on putting his hat on by himself so his hair is usually standing up in several areas after that hat comes off!!

Re: Boys and hairstyles

I have 3 boys
Older ds has curly hair so I try to tame it a bit when it gets long with water. I don't use any styling products

Ds 2 has pinstraight hair and I just comb to the side once again no styling prodcuts. I'm still waiting for his hair to come in more in the front - he has a very high hair line. He is 4

DS #3 is bald :)

hahahaa.... 2 boys here and I wouldn't even think of trying to style their hair. DS1 is 7, has a faux hawk, I guess, which is pretty grown in. Sometimes he adds his own gel (which is basically putting a glop in the front and not combing it at all), which I then have to try to spike. But usually it is just flopped down on his face. DS2 is 2, and he has that baby fine hair. Barely will let me brush it.

Re: Boys and hairstyles

DS is 4.5 and refuses any type of hair product whatsoever. He wakes up and goes. We keep it short for that reason. The fun part is that a few weeks after his hair cut, it's in the in-between stage where if he sleeps funny, part of his hair will be sticking straight up.

My DH, who has no hair, tries to convince my son to let us put gel in for pictures, with little success. I pick my battles, and that is not one of them (even on picture day).

DS has a lot of hair that grows fast. We recently just got him a buzz cut and I love the way it looks.

Re: Boys and hairstyles

My older DS had the BEST hair when he was little. We kept it on the longer side and he had beautiful curls. But as he got older, his hair got MUCH thicker and straighter. He wants to grow it out, but it looks terrible. I absolutely hate it and it's beyond the point of styling. He's getting it shaved before we go to Myrtle Beach in two weeks. My little one has paper thin hair. When the wind blows it looks like he gas a comb over. Chat Icon I think he's going to get shaved too.
