Bathing suits for DD?

My DD is 7 mos old, weighs 17 lbs and wears size 9 mos(12 mos if separates for the bottoms b/c she is tall). She'll be a yr old at the end of the summer. Not really sure what size to get her for bathing suits- 18 mos?
Also, where do you recommend buying bathing suits for your LO?

I would say i find most suits run a bit small and size up from what she normally wears. Carters runs incredibly small you may even want to go up a lil more. Gap is a bit inconsistent in sizing. Sometimes small other tjmes tts judge when you see it.
I find its better to have a lil big in beginning of summer cause by the end she will fit better in it rather than outgrow it which sucks to waste $ on a new suit for a few weeks...

I'm in the same position. DD was 16.5 lbs at her 5 month check-up and will be 6 months next week. I am going to start going to a pool indoors with her next week and will be shopping for a suit today. Going to Carters. Everyone said the same as pp. so i will be going with an 18 month suit. We are also taking a trip to the Carolinas in late May/early June so I would like something that would last the entire summer but not sure if that will happen since i'm buying something essentially for 5 months of use. (Now-August). I am wondering if i can try it on her in the store more concerned about the bottoms rather than the top.

Walmart also has a good selection for a bit cheaper. Khols?

I just bought an adorable bathing suit for dd in walmart! Dd is very small for her age so I can't comment on sizing. I have a carters suit that fits her from a year ago lol. Bj's had some cute suit/coverup sets too.

My suggestion is to hold off on buying too much.

My older DD was about 18 lbs at 7 months but only 20lbs 4 oz at a year. Everyone told me to buy 18 months so I listened and had to go and re-buy everything bc the 12 months was too big. She is a mid June bday. She did not get into 18 month suits until we went to WDW in Oct that year. She actually still fit into both 18 and 24months 2T the next summer when she was 2. She ended up running true to size and has ever since. Her sister followed the same pattern (late May baby) but then had a growth spurt and wore 12 months through July but wore 18 months in August so she got some use of the 18 month clothing her sister didn't really wear.

One pieces you might want to go up if she is tall but tankinis etc can vary. Have you tried a suit on your DD to see what works best? I really find that every kid is different. I had friend with kids in 2T at 12 months and in 9 months at a year and everything in between. A lot also has to do with brand.

I found Gymboree held up the best. Hartstrings too. L&T as well. The gap and old navy ones we had faded easily. I know others like Janie and jack, target and children's place. If you watch you can get good prices. I only pay around $6-15 for suits. Just watch for sales, coupons. June or early July L&T has some good one on clearance.

DD is 7 months and has a 9 month suit that fits her great from Carter's. She is 15.5 lbs.
Her other suits (holding out until the weather gets warmer to use) are 12 months and they are from Gap and Janie and Jack. They still have some room for her to grow.

I just got a carters rash guard bathing suit set for $10 at Marshall's. Shes 10 months and but is tall and skinny. We went for an 18m. Little loose but I figure she'll grow into it

I love carters for bathing suits. They have really cute rash gaurd ones. They aren't cheap but they wear well and fit great. If she is 9 months now I'd say 18 months is good for a bathing suit for summer.

i feel like since bathing suits are stretchy and supposed to be fitted, you don't wanty to size up too much at all. dd turned 1 in November, and is also very tall for her age. she wore size 12m all summer last year (she was in 9m size in the spring)... and bathing suits she wore 12m as well, or 6-12m as some of them ran.

now dd is transitioning from 18m up to 24m/2t size clothing, but will be in 18m size bathing suits.

I got her a cute one from target so far... last year she had an adorable one from Janie & jack... but her others were gifts so I'm not sure where they were from.

Last summer when dd was 9-11 months old I had a size 24 months one piece that fit her pretty well, but she is tall for her age. I also had a rash guard set in the same size and the top fit great but the bottoms were too loose to stay on. But since I mostly bought it for the top anyway I didn't mind. The material is so tight and stretchy, its easier to get on and off if you size up.

DD has always been pretty true to size with clothes and that held true for bathing suits too. I've gotten them at target, old navy, BRU, children's place. They're so stretchy that I would think they'd really have to outgrow it for it to be an issue.
