When your LO went down to 1 nap....

What time did they take that nap and how long was it? How did you know they were ready for 1 nap? Sometimes DS takes 2 naps but occasionally he won't take one of his naps. Just wondering when that 1 nap should be and about how long.

When your LO went down to 1 nap....

My dd just no longer really appeared tired at her usual time when she was doing 2 naps. She would go down later and for longer. And then the afternoon nap just no longer happened. And I let her go down when she wanted (meaning I would wait for her cues that shes tired) and I realized she was ready for 1 big nap.
She usually naps anytime starting between 11-12 for 2 hours.

Though these days shes fighting her naps all together so its been a fun 2 weeks hahaha

Re: When your LO went down to 1 nap....

dd dropped to one nap at like 8 months - it was rough!!! i am lucky if i get 1.5 hours out of her. i would say 75% of the time its an hour nap....25% of the time its close to 2 hours.

eta - just reread your post so wanted to give more info...
i knew it was time to drop to one nap bc thats what she wanted to do! i would put her down for a second nap and she would just play for 30+ minutes and then eventually cry. even if i left her in longer, she would just play and play. i still (at 1yr old) put her in her crib around what would be a second nap time. i just get some down time which works. she will play in her crib for 30+ minutes.

this was her schedule (ever since saturday she has completely changed) but up until that point she was pretty consistent...
slept from 7pm - 7am. napped from 11:30am til whenever she decided to wake.
put her in her crib around 4pm for down time

Re: When your LO went down to 1 nap....

We are trying to implement it now. They are almost 15 months. DD seems ready for 1 nap because she has been refusing to go to sleep at night, possibly because she's not tired. DS is less ready but since we keep them on the same schedule, we're doing it now.

We are slowly pushing back their morning nap, a half hour every 3 days. If they sleep for 2 hours, that's perfect, that's all they need. If they sleep for 1 hour (typical), we give them another hour nap at 3pm.

ETA our goal is to have that one nap at 12:30 after lunch

Daycare did it for us at 12months. Its smack in the middle of the day at daycare 1230 ish and is usually 2-3 hrs.

On weekends naps are whenever. We don't stay home for a nap so he will nap on the go or later. Whatever works

Around 12 months; but every now and then he'll nap twice. Typically DS will go down for a nap by 12:30 and it can last 3 hours. If we're out and about and he doesn't get that full nap; then he'll cat nap 30-60 minutes twice. (say 11; and again around 2 or 3pm)

Re: When your LO went down to 1 nap....

we dropped to one nap at about 18 months. My DS was ready as he kept just chatting and playing through the afternoon nap but would be exhausted because the first nap was very early in the day. DD just likes to sleep all the time lol, so she wasn't a fan. It took us a LONG time to transition, like months, but since about 21 months they've been sleeping for one afternoon nap for about 2-2.5 hours. Like someone else said, we kept pushing back the morning nap and would leave it that way for a while and pushed it back further till it settled to "after lunch" whatever time that ends up being.

DS went to one nap around 11 months. He usually goes down between 10:30-11 and sleeps anywhere from 1 to 3 hours.
