Campgrounds in PA
It's my FH's 35th birthday july 4th weekend and I'd like to plan a camping trip. Can anyone recommend a place? We'd stay in a tent and my 4.5 year old son would come too. my FH loves to fish so there must be an area on the campgrounds or close by to go fishing. and the car ride can't be more than 4 hours away from LI.
Thanks!

CHeck out this place.

We have stayed there a few years ago and had a great time. The amusement and water park are a close drive to the campground and very inexpensive.

Re: Campgrounds in PA
We used to go to Mountain Vista Campground in the pocono / marshalls creek area every weekend when I was a kid. We had a trailer there. I haven't been there is many years but from the looks of their website they still have kept the place up and upgraded. fishing is across the street. The drive was about 2-2.5 hours if I remember correctly.
I haven't been to jellystone in PA but the jellystone in VA was AWESOME. I wouldn't hesitate to check out another location.

Re: Campgrounds in PA
This is a weird reason to recommend a campground, but this place has the cleanest camping bathrooms!

ETA--just realized you specifically said PA. This one is semi-upstate NY.

I have been to that one too. They have rafting & canoeing which was a lot of fun. It is near a paintball place, so there was a large loud group camping there to go paintballing the next night when I was there--not sure if that is a regular issue though.

We have been to a jellystone one before and my son had a blast. Some of jellystone parks have waterparks or sprinklers parks inside them.

I spent many summers here as a kid. Haven't thought about it in ages...thanks for reminding me of such happy times! Glad to see it's around almost 35 years later!
We are planning on camping at Knoebels this summer. The amusement park is fantastic, can't say enough good things about it.

Re: Campgrounds in PA
We always stay at Jerry's 3 River Campground. There's a large campsite right on the Delaware River and it's pretty private from the rest of the campgrounds, which is what we liked best about it. It is on the NY side, but if you cross the river you're in PA.
ETA: Oh, hmm, I didn't see you had your young son with you- I wouldn't be comfortable being so close to the river with a young kid.
