Any ideas on what's going on with Alex?
For months now she's the most pleasant, happy, laughing, though very spirited baby. Sleeps from 7pm-6am every day, no waking. Will even sleep through the most horrendous of house renovations at 2am while hubby and I drill, hammer and saw...
BUT, the last few days she has been the WORST crankmonster! When I'm holding her she twists and contorts, and screams to get out of my arms. She also started night waking again... last night at 2am I found her in her crib, sitting up, WAILING. I don't know if she was scared, couldn't get back down or what, but again at 6am I found her sitting up in her crib crying her little head off!
I don't think it's teething - she already has 8 teeth and she isn't showing any noticeable signs like drooling and incessent biting. She has started becoming much more mobile, experimenting with crawling, starting to stand on her own and walks when her hands are held above her... I'm wondering if she's so distracted by the new developments? I have no idea... sigh...
Any ideas?

My friend is having the same problem with her 10 month old. Now that she can stand up, she stands in her crib and cries and cries! I think its just the physical changes are unsettling for the tots

Gotta say that it really sounds like teething. Maybe she's cutting molars in the back that you can't see?
Jake is doing the same thing minus the night-waking and he is just now cutting his two front top teeth. He did wake up once this week screaming in pain from the teething and all the while that I held him he was contorting himself just as you described because all he wanted was to sleep and not be in pain. Poor thing.
If you are convinced it's not teething, maybe it could be an ear infection?
Hope she gets better soon!

Yes I think she is scared of growing up and having to get a job. Also, she is scared of the threat of global warming and a new global economy led by Starbucks.
But thats just a guess...

Sounds like a little bit of teething and a little bit of wanting mommy in the middle of the night...throw in all the new things she has learned in the last couple of months and Voila...typical 10, 11, 12 month old.
Bella is like this now, she whines. I call her Wendy...for Wendy-whines -a-lot. She whines if I put her down, she whines in the middle of eating...then she's fine...then she is hysterical...
They have so much going on in that little head of theirs, it's crazy...learning to crawl and walk...on top of that object permanence (knowing you exist outside of her world and why the heck aren't you there) and all of the words she is constantly learning...Hey, I would wake up in the middle of the night with all of that in my head...
Apparently it's a short phase, but I am sure if she is any stage of teething that doesn't help...Bella doesn't wake up at night, but some mornings she wakes up super pissy....
to all the babies having a nth life crisis....
