You can call your insurance and tell them you're expecting. Once baby is born you can call them and they will ask for some paperwork (birth certificate) and you can have the hospital send them the paperwork.

I would call the insurance company they will probably send you a form to complete and send inonce you have the baby. With my insurance I had 30 days to do this from the date my DD was born. There is a 30 day grace period with most insurances. For the first 30 days the baby is covered under you automatically

baby will not be covered until they are born and then you have (I think) 30 days after birth to give the info to the insurance company.

Re: Adding Little one to medical cvg

I have the Empire Plan - we couldn't add her to the insurance policy until we got her birth certificate from Village of PJ and had a social security number for her. All in all - took over a month. The ped office treated DD with the presumption the insurance would take effect at some point and once we had the new card with her name on it, they processed all her previous visits, but they were covered and we had no co-pays.
