BF and formula question
My is 3 weeks old, and I have been BF and giving him formula. He LOVES to eat and if I BF him everytime I wouldn't be able to leave the house!
Anyway, my question is how much formula did your newborn ahve? How many ounces? I feel like my little guy is getting WAY too much .. I don't want to start his fat cells already by overfeeding! He gets @ 3 bottles a day and the rest is BF.
What is the 'norm' ?

Re: BF and formula question
I don't know if I can help that much because DS is EBF and I've never given him formula, but I don't think they really will overeat at that age. I BF on demand so some days it felt like all he was doing was eating! But it's normal for them to eat very often at that stage. I definitely hear you about being trapped in the house. I didn't get out a lot in the beginning. When I go out I either feed him while we're out (usually in my car) or bring along a bottle of pumped BM and it has gotten a lot easier as he's gotten older. I wouldn't really worry about overfeeding.

Re: BF and formula question
I exclusively breast feed but from what many experienced moms have told me over feeding is not something to worry about because a baby will let you know when they have had enough - or aren't hungry. I read DD cues and so far so good

Re: BF and formula question
I BF and FF..I was very nervous about DD overeating at first, but now I let her eat until she is full...I always BF first and then she always wants a bottle after...I also do that bc I can not bf for 2 hours straight like she wants to...
I would just fill the bottle to 4 ounces and after a few feeding you should see how much he wants...then if he keeps crying, you need to up the ounces
