C-section incision and scab

I had a c-section almost 3 weeks ago and I noticed yesterday that at one end there's a fairly large scab.

I saw my dr last week and she said everything looked great and removed my steri strips. I can't remember if the scab was there before she removed the strips or if it's new since then.

Is this something I need to call about? Could it be open or infected there? There's no pus, no pain, and it's not really any more red than the rest of the scar.

It won't hurt to just ask and be sure! Not to scare you, but this is what happened to me...

I noticed a little scab when I got home from the hospital after having my twins and thought nothing of it. Two days later, my incision opened up due to a build up of fluid and no where for it to go. I had to go to the ER and they had to clean it and stuff it with gauze. I went back to my OB for a week and he had to keep opening and stuffing it so it would heal from the inside. By the night time every night, I had a scab in the section that it was opened. This was NOT a fun experience, so if you can avoid it, please do. Do you have puffiness under your incision at all?

Re: C-section incision and scab

I would go in and just have them look.

I am also 3 weeks post csection. I had staples then they put on steri strips. I woke up last week and the one side of my incision hurt, was very red and hot to the touch. I had some drainage that the steri strip was blocking. They drained it some more and put gauze on it and put me on antibiotics.

I feel much better (no more redness and hotness), but I do have a scab from where it drained.

If there's no pain or pus, it sounds pretty normal to me. 3 weeks is still really early so it's possible there's still a scab there.

If you are unsure about it, I would probably just call the doctor.
