should i just give up on nap time?

DD has always fought me on naps & bedtime.
I spoke to a sleep coach about 6 months ago & it helped a lot but now it's all going down hill again.
I was hoping it was a phase but since she's always been bad, I doubt it.
I usually put her in her crib around 1:30, some days she sleeps & other days she just plays in there, which I don't mind but lately she cries to get out & asks for a million things before I leave the room.
She's also getting like this at bedtime too.
It takes her at least an hour to fall asleep for both nap & nighttime, I know she's sick of being in there. probably why she dreads sleep time.
Do I just give up on naps & hope bedtime gets better.
She is MISERABLE when she doesn't nap so I don't know what to do.
She's only 27 months

Re: should i just give up on nap time?

My son ended his daily naps at 23 months old!!! I was NOT ready for that. I tried to keep him in his crib for quiet time, but it was making bed time a nightmare.. Sometimes if I knew he needed a nap, I would go for a ride. He almost always fell asleep in the car.. On days we were home, I did quiet time in the living room. No tv just some books and puzzles... It is a rough time!!!

I wouldn't cut it out yet. I would first try putting her in a half our earlier. When my kids are over tired they don't fall asleep easily. If anything it will get her used to quiet time and give you a break still. Hopefully she falls asleep though!

My twins were done with napping by around 26 or 27 months. Trust me, I tried my hardest to hold on to it but after awhile I just knew it wasnt happening. I did hoowever make their bedtime about an hour earlier and there wasnt any issues with that and they still slept until the same time in the morning. Good luck!

Thanks! I'll definitely try getting her in earlier before I give up. It can't be over yet Chat Icon
