Halloween with a 2 year old

my dd did not want anything to do with halloween, refused to wear her costume and did not want to trick or treat. I felt horrible especially when there were so many toddlers coming to my door. I know its silly but I felt like I did something wrong asa mother..i know its a silly thought. Did anyone elses 2 year old or toddler want no part in Halloween?

Halloween with a 2 year old

Aww I think it's totally normal at that age. DS is 18 months and really was not interested. We went to the Suffolk Community College Halloween event last weekend and really the only things he was interested in was the petting zoo, running around in the grass, and going up and down the stairs over and over again lol. Didn't care about the costumes, had no interest in trick or treating. So I didn't even try trick or treating with him last night. I just put him in his costume and he helped hand out some candy and that was it. Don't feel bad, next year I'm sure will be a totally different story.

DD wasn't all too into it either, she's almost 2.
The fun REALLY starts IMO at 3.

Re: Halloween with a 2 year old

Mine was the same way at 2! She wore her costume for the parade at school that year and maybe 5 min when we got home but that was it.
She wanted it off.
She liked helping give out candy, but she did NOT want to go Trick or Treating.

But this year, at 3, she LOVED it. Wore her costume the whole time, was BEGGING to go Trick or Treating, didn't want to come home afterwards.
I feel like at 3 years old she has a much better understanding of things. We spoke about Halloween for weeks, they talk about it at school, she watches a lot of Disney shows that have Halloween episodes, etc
She was so stoked for it.

So it definitely gets better - it just takes time.

We didn't do anything when DS was 2 either. He just wasn't ready. This year, at 3, he was so excited and had so much fun!

Halloween with a 2 year old

My twins are almost 2 (next week) and one was very into it and the other begged me to take her costume off. We went trick or treating only around the block and she was scared of some of the costumes. Her sister loved it though and loved the scary costumes. You just never know.
