4 months and sleeping

So dd goes to bed at 7 (will be pushing back to 8) and goes until 430am, gets a bottle and goes back down until 630/7am.

Just came from the pedi and he said she should be going 10-12 hours without waking and when she wakes at 4/430am we should ignore her??

Does that sound right? She is a big girl, 16lbs and 25 inches. She has good feedings during the day. She was born at 7lb5oz and 19inches.

IMO 4 months is too early to CIO - esp if its only once a night that she wakes
I did attempt it at 5 months though but dd wasn't ready. We were successful at 6 months
But you will find parents who were successful with CIO at 4 months

No that wouldn't sit well with me. 4 month olds might still need that bottle after 9 hours of sleep. I'd keep doing what you're doing!!

at 4 months i would have done cartwheels and back flips if my kids slept that long

Update. I didn't feel comfortable it. Dd slept from 8pm-515am. I went in at 530am and she drank a 6oz bottle so she is legitimately hungry and it's not a habit. She's my dd, not the pedis and I know what's best for her.

She went back to sleep and I even put her back in her crib wide awake after the bottle. 5 min later she was out again.

She slept 9.5 hours! To me that's great.

9.5 hours is great! And if she took 6 oz she was clearly ready for her bottle.

DS is almost 9 months and has never slept 12 hours. It's just not in him! He consistently sleeps 10 hours and then needs a bottle and is awake. Ignore your ped. You're doing everything right!

Ds goes to bed around 7 and will wake up for a bottle 5ish, sometimes earlier, sometimes later. When he does wake up in the middle of the night I leave him and he puts himself back to sleep. I don't think that there needs to be a rule. When he wakes up around 5 I think its reasonable for him to have a bottle. He'll go back to sleep until 7ish and won't eat again until 8/9. Some kids just can't make it 12 hours. I would hate to CIO when he is legitimately hungry or needs something.

DD2 is 4 months and she goes 10-11 hours. I think 9+ hours is great, maybe try putting her down a little later at night? DD goes down at 8/8:15 and gets up between 6 and 7. If i put her down earlier she's up earlier..

Unless it bothers you, I don't personally believe there is a need to force sleeping through the night. My 4.5 mth old is slightly bigger than what you posted. From 9-13 weeks she slept thru the night from 11ish until 7:30ish. Then I went back to work and she started getting up once or twice per night ever since. It's fine and preferable to me (less pumping) and it works for us. My middle daughter did not sleep through the night until shebwas over a year. My first daughter is similar to the baby now and she eventually went back to sleeping through the night.

8-5:30 is STN and your lo was for sure hungry! I still nursed my dd when she was waking up once at night around 9 months...she went to bed around 6:30-7 so I know she was hungry!

My Ped told me that 8 hours was sleeping throught the night and up until 6+ months they may legitimately hungry after 8 hours. I would keep doing what you are doing and by 6 mos I bet she will start stretching longer in the a.m. - at leat that's what mine did!
