First shoes

Where did you go to get your child's first walking shoes?

Someone gave us a good pair of Nike's that were mesh, but hard at the bottom. No idea from where....and no idea where to get a different or more pairs....or even what size my DD is. She is 9 months and she needs shoes while out since she likes to get down and walk around sometimes.

This. Although at that age DD was only cruising so I rarely let her walk while we were out. I got her a cheap pair of payless sneakers that were great. She's now 18 months and on her 4th pair of stride right's already and I'm going to be broke soon! Chat Icon

Try online. They don't have a ton of options but if you see one you like you can see which stores have it in each size.

Honestly i would go to stride rite and get her the early walkers. And when possible keep her without shoes.

They will measure her and give you shoes that will fit her properly and aid her in walking.

ugh! those first shoes are crazy expensive! Clarks also has some really cute shoes for girls!
I'm trying to find a pair for my DD, but her feet are so small that they don't make them in her size...so she's still in pre-walkers

The Stride Rite in Deer Park Tanger and Lake Success Shopping Center in New Hyde Park are outlets. You can get the same type of shoes, at almost half the price sometimes!! The prices there are always better though.

Re: First shoes

The outlets will measure as well and they are half the price.
I skimp on a lot if things, used generic formula because knew it was the same, etc. but when it comes to their developing feet you don't want to compromise. I will buy myself shoes from Payless to save money, but not for my daughter. They need proper support as early walkers.

Also ped said no shoes at all until they are full time walking.

So if you are are and your LO wants to walk with you holding in you have them in socks?

We went to the queens farm and let her walk around with the chickens. Good thing she had sneakers on. But we don't put them on all the time. Only for things like that.

I like robeez. DD has a tiny foot (size 2 with room to grow!) at 10 months and these fit her well.

I actually had her measured and bought in a boutique in the city (Ibiza kids on Broadway and I think 12th - next to the strand bookstore). I've also gotten them online (there's a size chart to print) on their website, also on shoebuy and zappos websites. If I see them I. A store around here I will let you know!

Re: First shoes

My DD is walking, has tiny feet really a 2.5 but wears a 3. We started with the Robeez. Found about four pairs at Stride Rite outlet in Deer Park Tanger. They have a great selection and a bunch on clearance too.

Yes. They're a little Chat Icon but worth it for the first few pairs. I'll prob check out their outlet store going forward.

For that, more of a soft soled shoe like Robeez. And only.when outside like that.
