Need opinion
My 18month old broke his elbow!
(Supracondlyar fracture of humeral) it is a simple break and don't think they need to manipulate the bones. He needs to go for his hard cast within a few days. The hospital call and schedule an appointment with a physicians assistant with a very good pediatric ortho group within the childrens hospital
Im torn...
His doctor said shes comfortable with the PA from that group
but gave me a name of an ortho that she normally refers to...which happens to be part of a group that my husband went to
It also turns out my dh dr is also a pediatric ortho and wrote an article in the 90s about this type of break in kids.
so who would you pick?

i personally wouldnt go with the PA from the hospital
i would go with the dr that wrote the article about that specific break bc he has a lot of knowledge of that area or i would go with who your dr recommends
eta - does your ped know/recommend the person who wrote the article?

I would say to go with what you feel most comfortable. I know that's an obvious answer.
My son broke his elbow around that same time (I think he was closer to 2 yrs. old). I just used the ortho they had at the hospital (LIJ). He had a cast for a few weeks and when the cast came off, he was right as rain :) Hope he gets better soon! Hang in there!

We decided to go with dh doctor...glad to see its a popular choice...just reconfirms my decision
My poor boy...appointment is tomorrow for the hard cast
