When did you stop...

When did you stop throwing away baby food if the spoon touched the baby's mouth?

We always pour DS's food into a separate bowl so if he doesn't finish the jar we can save it for the next day. But last night I accidentally put the spoon into the jar. I don't throw my food away every time I eat out of the container, so I saved the food for DS for tonight.

Just wondering when other people stopped following the whole cross contamination rule.

When did you stop...

I never did. i found it silly, like you said, we don't do it. I am a pretty easy going mom with a lot of things though. I did what you did, poured into a bowl but the times the spoon hit the mouth and the food, I didn't chuck it, it costs $$, i also didn't saveit for long, my kids would get it the next meal or 2.

I never threw it out for that reason. I always put it in the fridge for later that day/night.

I would maybe save it for that night (if it was something at lunch) but not offer it the next day.

I never threw it out. I would just use it within the next day.

I never did either.
The label says that if saliva gets in there, it will change the consistency, water it down and maybe make it not as appealing to the baby, but it's not a safety issue IMO.
I never did that and now 3 years later, DD is still alive and kickin!

Never threw anything away. I guess I was so sleep deprived I never even knew you were supposed to put it in a bowl. I always fed my twins from the jars/containers. And cross-contamination? Well you can imagine my whole house is pretty much contanimated then! I refed them jars by the next day. Never had any issues.

I've never heard of this! I always only give open food the next day though. I toss is if it's not eaten within 24-36 hours.
