For those of you that have used professional photographers in Suffolk, can you please give me your recommendations and estimated pricing.
I contacted one a few months ago and was given a price list and was just given an updated pricing list changing the price of my already booked photo shoot so I am a bit annoyed right now and looking for someone else to do my family's fall pictures. I am so annoyed that after I booked and everything she has the nerve to tell me that her pricing went up and that my session would be $150 more, but she will give me a discount making it $100 more.
TIA!!

That's ridiculous. I think she should honor her original pricing for those who have booked already and only the clients who book after the price change are affected. Sorry I don't have any reccs though!

Re: Professional Photographers
once a retainer is given and a contract signed there is no raising the prices of what is on the contract. That is bs to be honest.

Remember When Photography. They're on Facebook. Inexpensive and they have been wonderful with my DS, even when he hasn't been the easiest to take pictures of!

If you already booked the session and signed a contract, she has to honor the price she originally gave you. That is sincere BS

Re: Professional Photographers
I just did a mini session with Helene Power. It was $250 for an hour and I got about100 pictures uploaded to a shutterfly album.

Satin Sky Photography or Melissa Cillo Photography! It depends on what kind of session you want. Newborn, birthday, family photos so i am not sure on exact pricing but pretty reasonable. You can check out both of their work on FB.

Wow , that's crazy . She should honor her original quote since you are already booked. We have been using Tamtaphoto for a few years now, we just did Halloween mini with her and doing a fall mini session this Saturday. You can find her on FB or google her website . My cousin is using someone else , ca't remember the name now, she is just starting out , does a nice job and low prices, I will try to find out the name and let you know.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations and responses.
Yes, I am very annoyed that she is not honoring her original prices and contract, but it's at the point of there is not much else I can do but look elsewhere.
Thanks ladies!!

WOW...that's a terrible way to do business.
I would put her name out there so it doesn't happen to anyone else.
So she will let you out of the contract without a penalty but won't honor the original price? Is she that big that she can loose customers without concern?

Re: Professional Photographers
I used Cassandra who is now at Janelle Brooke Photography for a family shoot last year and the pictures were awesome. She totally gets little kids (probably because she has them herself!) and my pictures were awesome! If you go on their website for Babies and Families, my pictures are there (two little girls in striped sundresses and cowboy hats). They're doing mini-sessions on October 26th also.

That isn't professional at all! I am sorry but any business who does that doesn't respect or value what they do or their clients at all. Shame on them and I take what I do incredibly serious and shit like that pisses me off.

She's not some super photographer who charges a lot of money because she is amazing. She is a decent used to be reasonably priced photographer who is known in this community. I don't see how you can raise your price $150 from the booking of the session to 3 months later at the session. I have spread the word to friends and family and co-workers who have all used her. She lost and will lose a lot more business over this.
Basically I got the confirmation email for the date and shoot location with the balance owing and I questioned it. She stated that her prices went up and that she would discount it off $50 for me. I again questioned it and reminded her that I had the contract out for the lower price. She refunded my deposit since I wasn't going to pay her highway robbery!!

Nothing wrong with it. lots of photographers have started out reasonably priced and then they've gone up . That's how the business goes I guess. I even think it's ok for a quote to go up few weeks or months later, BUT for her to do it AFTER you already booked with her and paid the deposit is not professional at all. JMO

Raising prices is one thing (not getting into business costs/profit and so forth) but saying you owe more AFTER booking and signed a contract/retainer is wrong and looks poorly upon those who take this profession seriously. I get there is two sides to every story but if it's how you said it - wrong wrong wrong.
Glad your going elsewhere and got your money back. She probably realize she was undercharging for the session but you always honor a contract just like you want your client to honor the contract. I feel bad for your experience and hope your next photographer who is a REAL professional doesn't shit on you like that. Sorry for the but enough is enough lately.
