Lovenox to Heparin
I am going to my high risk tomorrow to get my Heparin script, I'm 36 weeks today. Because I already have a blood clot, he wants me injecting three times a day, 8 hours apart. How were you prescribed Heparin? I know it needs to be self drawn, which is fine. Also, where did you get it filled? According to my insurance companies website, I can get it filled at a retail pharmacy and do not need to go the mail order route.
TIA

Re: Lovenox to Heparin
I had to take it twice a day at the end of my last pregnancy. I had to self draw it..it wasn't like Lovenox. annoying, but not bad.
I think I had to get it mail ordered, if I remember correctly. I remember trying at a few places and having a problem. Good luck!

Lovenox to Heparin
I had to do 3 x a day. I got mine filled at 110 pharmacy in Melville.
Just pick your times so you are not injecting in the middle of the night. I did 11pm then I could get a decent sleep

Re: Lovenox to Heparin
Thanks ladies!
I am just hoping that a local retail pharmacy will fill it for me. I don't need a 90 days supply...I barely need a 30 day supply!
I was thinking 6am, 2pm and 10pm as my injection schedule.

Re: Lovenox to Heparin
I was prescribed 2x a day. I got my script filled at CVS (I have Empire). It was self drawn, make sure that they give you the syringes before you leave the pharmacy - I did not and it was a PITA to have them give me the syringes.

Re: Lovenox to Heparin
I did it twice a day. I didn't mind it, the needles are actually smaller. I got it at the regular pharmacy. ETA: I think you may have to have a separate script for the syringes.

Same here, twice a day and got it at CVS. It was annoying to go from Lovenox to Heparin but the actual injection actually hurt a lil less.

I had to do it 3 times a day I did 7 am , 2 pm, 9 pm I got mine at cvs
My hematologist wrote the script for the heparin as well as the syringes ( I actually have a huge box of wrapped syringes if you need I can mail them to you. Not heparin just syringes)

Re: Lovenox to Heparin
I dropped the scripts (heparin and the syringes) off at CVS. They didn't have them in stock but said they would order it and have it in by Monday afternoon for me. I am so thankful that I don't have to go through mail order! Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that it gets to CVS for Monday afternoon. Thanks ladies for all the replies.
