Anyone have issues with baby sleeping in PNP when away from home?
Dd is turning one and has been sleeping well in her crib. We're going away for one night soon and I'm a little nervous about how she'll sleep in the pack n play. It just doesn't looks nearly as comfortable or supportive as her crib mattress.

We got a mattress for it on amazon for about $30. Definitely worth it imo. DD never slept well in the pnp but did much better once we got the mattress.

My Ds always sleeps in the PnP when we go see my parents in FL and the first time we went was actually the first time he ever slept through the night.
WE jsut have the thin little mattress and he has never had an issue

DS sleeps fine in pack and play but we started him much earlier in it. The first time he was only 4 months. I bring his glowworm and blanket that he has in his crib and did the same nighttime routine.

does she normally fall asleep 'other' places besides her crib? My kids will sleep anywhere, so the PNP was never an issue. We also went away/were out with them a lot - so they slept in tne PNP often enough that it wasn't an issue.

DS sleeps in the PnP at my parents house without a problem. We have the regular mattress that comes with it but bought a sheet.

My older DS was a horrible sleeper anywhere but, my younger DS is a great sleeper in his crib and hated the PNP (even with the additional mattress). We now use a toddler aerobed with him.

No, that's why I'm worried. It's always been a struggle to get her to sleep, and I still have to nurse her to sleep. But usually when I put her down in her crib she opens her eyes and looks around as if to make sure she's in her crib and then falls back asleep. I'm hoping when I put her down jn the PNP she doesn't freak out bc her surroundings look different.

My 3yo DS still naps in a p&p at my in-laws once a week. It's the only day he takes a nap now! He's always good for a 2-hour nap over there. We don't have a thick mattress in it either... just the flat piece with a sheet and a pillow.

We tried a pnl when we stayed overnight in Mystic. My DD HATED it. She cried all night until we brought her into our bed whch was a queen..it was not fun. Bring some things from her crib..a sound machine or a mobile that she is familiar with..that may help.

This is what I'm so afraid of! I'm surprising my DH with an overnight trip for his bday and I really hope dd doesn't cry all night. That wouldn't be a very good bday present, now would it! I will definitely bring her sound machine and glowing seahorse, and I'm considering buying a mattress for the PNP bc the one that comes with it is so flimsy and you can feel the metal support bars right thru it.
On the plus side I just got her down for a nap in the PNP so ill see how long she stays asleep or if she wakes up early uncomfortable. Maybe if I give her a few 'practice' naps in the PNP she'll be ok with it that night.
Eta: she only made it 10 min before waking up crying :/

DS has always slept in it well at night, just with the thin mattress the Baby Bjorn comes with. STTN with it.

Re: Anyone have issues with baby sleeping in PNP when away from home?
we had issues the first time we put DD in it; she would open her eyes, look around and scream (whereas at home she would just put herself back to sleep)
it was only for one night - and it was a rough one night
we used it 2 weeks later - but this time we had her in it to play a few times during the day so she got used to being in it and also familiar with her surroundings. we had no problems on that trip

Re: Anyone have issues with baby sleeping in PNP when away from home?
YES! We just went to Disney and she HATED the PNP!
It was manageable though - we pretty much just took her around in her stroller til she passed out then transferred her to the PNP.
If she woke up, we took her into bed with us and when she fell back asleep we transferred her again.
We had white noise and her lovey with us.
The "mattress" sucked though, I would def bring one if you can.

We took DS on vacation with us a few months ago when he was just about 10 months. The first night in the PNP was a nightmare... as days went on he got used to it.

Anyone have issues with baby sleeping in PNP when away from home?
We have been on 3 vacations with my 2.5 yr old DS, he has always slept fine in the pack and play. We used it for my 6 month old when we went in vacation in August. He was almost 5 months at the time and had a hard time the first 2 nights, the next 4 nights we were away he slept no problem.

Re: Anyone have issues with baby sleeping in PNP when away from home?
Try some practice runs before you go away to get her used to being in there.
we've also put a towel under the sheet between the 'mattress' and the sheet to help make it softer and that's worked too.

Are you staying in a hotel? Most have cribs available, we generally just use that. GL!

Re: Anyone have issues with baby sleeping in PNP when away from home?
My DD sleeps HORRIBLE in the pnp on vacation compared to home. She used to nap in it at daycare and she would still sleep poorly away from home. Maybe it has more to do with not being in a familiar environment?? It does not stop us from going away, we are just prepared for rough nights on vacation.
