Homemade apple chips?
So we went apple picking Saturday and I NEED to do something with these apples! Anyone ever make apple chips? Every recipe I'm finding takes 2+ hours. Also...(dumb question)...how do you cut the apple using a regular knife? Vertically? Horizontally? Do you peel them?
TIA!

Re: Homemade apple chips?
I think they do take a really long time to dry out in the oven, no way around that.
But I core the apple first, very carefully with a sharp knife, then I slice them as thin as possible...they come out round with a hole in the middle.
They are delicious and totally worth the time, but they shrivel up so make more than you think you'll need. I also sprinkle with cinnamon and a TINY bit of sugar before baking.
