Room Changes???
I'm due with my 2nd boy in March. My husband and I are debating on putting the baby into my son's current nursery now and moving my older son, who will be almost 3 at the time the baby is born, to a new room across the hallway. Either way my son is going to need to be upgraded to a bed and given a "big boy room", but I'm concerned that too much change will really affect him. Has anyone had any experience with this or any feedback,

Room Changes???
I voted to leave your son in the same room. I will be facing a similar dilemma soon. Whether to move DD out of her room into the bigger room we use as a den and use her room as the nursery or leave her in her room and hope there is enough room to convert her crib into a full size bed and use the larger room./den as a nursery. If size were not an issue it would be a no brainer for me.. Her room is not very babyish though in terms of décor etc so she can def use it for a few more years. Plus its pink and we aren't finding out the gender for DC #2 so I would hate to have to repaint two rooms if we end up having a boy!!! If we end up having a girl the second time around I may rethink things a bit!
ETA: I just read that you are having a boy, but I still would leave DS in his own room.. I agree don't want it to seem like your kicking him out of his room for the new baby!

Room Changes???
We put our younger DD into the nursery and moved my older DD into a big girl room. It was a surprisingly easy transition for her! She was 27 months when the baby was born.
Good luck!

Same here - DD was 23 months old. But DD doesn't (never did) sleep in her room, so that might not help much!
I would never make things harder for myself by moving the baby furniture out - make a big deal about his big boy room and let him pick out the sheets and he will be fine!
GL!

Room Changes???
We just moved into a new house in August. Not only did DS#1 move to a new house, he moved to a room upstairs (alone - we're downstairs) and a big boy bed. He was completely fine from night 1. He totally gets that his crib/dresser etc is for the baby. Aside from moving, new bed, etc... DS also went to a new daycare site in early September. Nevermind the baby coming in 7 weeks. He has been handling all of these changes well. We, as adults, struggle more than they do.
I think we lucked out being that we moved at the same time so the transition went smoother. But we were talking up the big boy room for quite awhile beforehand. We let him pick out his comforter set and decorated it in a way he would like to make it feel more special.

Re: Room Changes???
We are having our 2nd DS in 3 weeks. We decided to leave DS1 in his room. I just felt like I wanted DS2 to have his own identity and it just didn't feel right to me to just give him DS1's nursery when we specifically picked that out for DS1.
We did decide to give DS2 the crib, but only after we are done with the bassinet, which will be about 3-4 months. At that point, we'll get DS1 a big boy bed and some new sheets and possibly repaint his room.
Also, DS1 is kind of attached to his Snoopy sheets and blanket etc. (which is his nursery theme), so I'm not sure how he'd feel about giving all that to his brother. Getting a brother will be hard enough in itself, imo.

Re: Room Changes???
We just moved my ds into his new room at 35 weeks. He was already in a toddler bed so I moved that in. He wanted his new room to be the same theme so I moved the pictures decals and space bedding over. I tried to keep as much as possible the same. All of his toys were already in the new room as we had used it as a playroom. The first night was an adjustment but he now calls it his big boy room I keep the door closed to the nursery as I update it as well. I also didn't mention anything about the new baby going in his old room. The nursery has been easy because I just have to fill up the closet and dresser.

Room Changes???
Im having DS2 the end of November and DS1 will be exactly 2 years old. We decided to leave DS1 where he is b/c i didnt want to do a lot of changes at once. He is already getting a new brother and that is a big enough change in itself. But that is just my opinion. You need to do whatever you are comfortable with
